Dr. Myles Munroe and Wife Dead After Plane Crash in Bahamas

Famed motivational speaker Dr.Myles Munroe and his wife Ruth are among several dead after a private plane crashed in the Bahamas.

UPDATE:Although police have not officially released the identities of the victims, church officials have confirmed that Dr Richard Pinder, BFM’s senior vice-president, was also on board.  Pastor Lavard Parks, his wife, Rudel Parks, both BFM youth ministers, and their young son Johannan were also on the plane, according to a statement from Mr Parks’ public relations team.

Unconfirmed reports state that Captain Stanley Thurston, along with a visitor from Africa, and another pilot were on board the ill fated plane.

The crash happened Sunday afternoon and killed all nine people on board the private jet. The plane reportedly struck a crane at the Grand Bahama Ship Yard, exploding on impact and crashing into the ground near a junkyard area.

The Department of Civil Aviation reported that the plane was a Lear 36 executive jet which departed the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) for the Grand Bahama International Airport.

The plane left LPIA at 4.07pm with nine people on board and crashed while making an approach for landing at Grand Bahama International Airport at 5.10pm, the Department of Civil Aviation said.

The preacher known for preaching messages on Kingdom living, was in route to the Global Leadership Forum which is a conference he founded.

The Grand Bahama Airport Company Crash Fire Rescue Department responded to the incident, along with the Police, and Bahamas Air Sea Rescue (BASRA).

The department said a full scale investigation will start tomorrow morning at daylight, which will include the Department of Civil Aviation Aircraft Accident Investigation Prevention Unit.

The 60-year-old Bahamas native, Munroe, is the published author of more than 100 spiritual and inspirational works. He is also a government and business consultant to Fortune 500 businesses, according to a biography on the Ministries website.

The Global Leadership Forum will continue as scheduled, according to a statement released by Munroe’s Facebook page. “This is what Dr. Munroe would have wanted. Please keep this family and the ministry in prayers,” a spokesperson wrote. The names of all the victims were not immediately known.
