The Kevin Marshall Foundation kicks off another year of ministry against gun violence with the 4th Annual Kevin Marshall Foundation Conference, March and Rally against
gun violence.
In 2009 the young Kevin Alexander Marshall, a 24 year old native of Houston,TX was killed while at a friend’s birthday party. “Another life gone too soon to gun violence”, was the cry from the community.
The Marshall family did not just cry out, they decided to put their faith into action. They created the Kevin Marshall Foundation with a mission to, “Turn to Each Other and Not On Each Other.”
The goal of the foundation is to I.M.P.A.C.T. (I’m Pushing Against Crime Today) other young people by educating them on guns and the prevention of gun violence; Giving the community a platform to communicate with each other.
The ministry expresses unity by calling to action churches, family, friends, the community organizations, and the nation.
The Events will kick off on Saturday, April 20, 2013 with a conference beginning at 9:30 a.m. at True Light Baptist Church, 7102 North Main, Houston, Texas 77022. There will be a panel discussion on the causes and remedies for gun violence.
This years theme, “Roots: Exposing What Lies Beneath”, highlighting Ephesians 4:31 and Galatians 5.
The panel discussion will be led by Bishop James Dixon II, Pastor of the Community of Faith Church and current Interim Pastor for True Light Missionary Baptist Church in Houston.
The panelists will explore and discuss some of the root causes of the trends in gun violence we are seeing today and offer some plausible solutions. There will also be a powerful message presented by Conference speaker, Rev. Gordon Thomas, Pastor of Perfecting Ministries, Sugarland, Texas.
There will be food, fun, performances, and festivities for all. A Rally for Change.
