INTERVIEW: Gospel Artist Eric Carrington Talks Longevity, after his Breakthrough in the Gospel Industry – New CD ‘Amplified Prayze’ in Stores Now

Path MEGAzine crashed Eric Carrington’s studio to talk to him about his new Gospel CD ‘Amplified Prayze.’ For those that are unfamiliar with the Houston prodigy, you are missing out on an awesome ministry.

Awesome is a word that fits the veteran artist whose song ‘Awesome God’ is a mainstay in Billboards Top Gospel songs.

A Pastor’s son, at the age of 13 Eric was thrust on an organ bench and told to play one Sunday in service.  With no formal training, Eric realized then that he had an ear for music.

I had the opportunity to attend Eric Carrington’s album release party, and I was livid after hearing 3 or 4 solid singles on the album. As Eric acknowledged PATH MAGAzine’s presence openly at the venue, I knew I had to speak to the man who seemed less worried about personal success, and more focused on reaching souls through his works; An analysis not coming from me, but from those who knew Eric best.

Eric Carrington’s journey began in 1992, with the release of his first project ‘Calvary.’ Although he didn’t get national recognition, he caused the local community of Houston to take a second look. Now after 5 albums, and 20 years of service the national media is finally seeing what so many already know. Eric Carrington is anointed.

While interviewing Carrington, you could tell that he was grateful for the ups and downs he experienced in his career. While other local Houston prodigies like James Fortune became a household name, Carrington said he never envied others and respected the path God put him on.

The married father of two brought his wife and kids to the stage, and the beaming family had the right to feel accomplished during the album release party that brought an energized crowd and a handful of media to the special occasion.

Shortly after the release party we reached out to Carrington, and he graciously granted us full reign of his studio. The video interview accompanying this editorial came from that day.
