Seeking to unite their two substantial audiences, premiere Christian rapper Lecrae and adult contemporary/inspo mainstay Steven Curtis Chapman jointly announced today that they will release a collaborations album later this year.
“I’m amazed and humbled that a Christian music legend like Steve is willing to take a chance on me,” said Lecrae. “He’s had more hits than Biggie, Puffy and Busta, and besides that, he’s a great guy. I can’t wait to see how the fans react.”
The Reach Records rapper is known for collaborating across genres, with appearances on albums such as Passion’s Here For You, tobyMac’s Eye On It and Russell Crowe’s showtunes album, G-Flatiator.
Chapman, no stranger to genre-bending antics himself, recently released a bluegrass album. Having spent the last four weeks in the studio with Lecrae, Chapman said the experience has been “eye opening,” and that fans will “get something they’ll never forget.”
