Lisa Page Brooks To Present Legends Award In Honor of The Late Inez Andrews During Live Broadcast of The 28th Annual Stellar Awards

Lisa Page Brooks To Present Legends Award In Honor of The Late Inez Andrews During Live Broadcast of The 28th Annual Stellar AwardsNational Recording artist, Lisa Page Brooks, will appear at the 28th annual Stellar Awards taking place this weekend at the historic Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN. Ms. Brooks will present the award honoring the legendary vocalist Inez Andrews (of “Lord, Don’t Move the Mountain” and “Just For Me” solo fame), who will be posthumously awarded the Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones Legends Award for her six decades of musical excellence.

“I am honored to take part in such a well deserved tribute to Inez Andrews,” says Brooks. “She was a true pioneer, a great example of longevity in gospel music that influenced many of us to stay consistent and follow our passion.”

As a member of the `50s era group, The Caravans, Andrews led the gospel act in their classic recordings of “Mary, Don’t You Weep,” “I’m Willing” and “I’m Not Tired Yet.” In a fitting sendoff to Andrews, there will be a special reunion of The Caravans on the Stellar Awards featuring Shirley Caesar, Dorothy Norwood and Delores Washington.

The Stellar Awards broadcast live on the GMC TV cable channel Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 7 p.m. EST. Visit www.watchgmctv.com for more detail. The show will also air in national syndication in over 200 television markets from January 19 – March 3, 2013.

Detroit native Lisa Page Brooks broke Marvin Sapp’s nearly seven month chokehold on the top slot on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart in 2010 when her #1 smash “I Want To Thank You” pushed his “The Best in Me” to the side. It’s just one of many feats in a career that has seen Brooks perform for a sitting President, earn a Grammy Award nomination, snag a Stellar Award, tour the world with the well-known gospel quartet Witness and star in several touring stage productions.

Brooks has now put the finishing touches on her forthcoming CD, “Better Than Life,” scheduled for release on Habakkuk Music in Spring 2013. Brooks is tapped to be the 2013 spokesperson for the American Heart/Stroke Association. In this capacity she will tour and raise awareness about heart health and stroke prevention.
