Stellar Award winner and Dove-nominated gospel artist Maurette Brown Clark will be the new host of middays on Praise 103.9 radio. “The Sound of Praise with Maurette Brown Clark” will debut Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. She will be broadcasting live in both Philadelphia and Baltimore, alternating locales for shows.

Brown Clark started singing at age 4. She took her first private lessons at age 6 where she began performing extensively with her family group in Long Island, N.Y. She made a name for herself backing CeCe Winans and Hezekiah Walker. Brown Clark’s first solo outing came in 1998 with the hit album “How I Feel.” She has since gone on to release numerous albums.

“Everyone has a wish list; being a radio host on a gospel station was on my wish list,” Clark said. “I never spoke about being a radio host aloud, but God will take what speaks in your heart and he will present it to you. I’ve always had a lot of people pulling for me and being in my corner throughout my career. Then this opportunity came to me. I’m really grateful and blessed that Radio One executives believe in me with this platform.

“As far as the two markets my show will be broadcasted from, it couldn’t have happen a better way for me,” she added. “I live in Baltimore and Philadelphia has always been a great market for my music. Since 1998, Philly has been so supportive of me. I’m so excited to have my show be in both Baltimore and Philadelphia. I’m very fortunate to be getting my feet wet in radio with two cities I truly have love for.”

Clark Brown recently visited Radio One in Philadelphia to meet her new broadcast family and interact with her fans. She was also introduced by Erica Campbell of Mary Mary on her live radio show “Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell.”

“I remember singing Maurette’s song ‘Just Want to Praise You’ in the praise and worship team,” Campbell said. “I couldn’t even make it through the song because I just cried and cried. The song was just that inspirational. I also remember watching her with Richard Smallwood. That performance also had an impact on me.

“Her songs speaks to your heart and spirit,” she added. “I know her show will do extremely well because she is a woman of God. Everything that she does exudes God’s message. I truly believe her message on her show will not only impact people’s lives, but it will also inspire them.”

While Brown Clark is still honing the concept of her new radio show, she says it is important for her to connect with her listeners through music, praise and worship.

“The tagline for the show is ‘Inspiration That Sticks and a Praise That Stays,’ Brown Clark said. “A lot of people may see me singing, but I am a praiser. I will find something to thank God for, whether things are going good or bad in life.

“That is the moniker for my show,” she added. “No matter what you’re doing or where life finds you, God will keep you. I want to encourage my listeners to praise and worship. I want them to feel inspired and comforted. I know what God can do and what he has done for me. I want to be the light to encourage somebody else. By the time the five-hour period on the radio ends, I want my listeners love for God to shine even brighter.”
