A team of artists are hard at work adapting the popular children’s cartoon, SpongeBob Squarepants for the Broadway stage.
Joining the team in making this happen are Yolanda Adams, along with Sara Bareilles and Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros are the latest artists to sign on to contribute original songs to the musical’s score.
They join an already robust and eclectic mix of artists who are contributing, including John Legend, T.I., Cyndi Lauper and many more.
The musical plans to open in New York on Broadway in the 2016-17 season after a run in Chicago from June 7-July 3 at Broadway’s Oriental Theatre.
