Bishop Eddie Long’s Successor Will Be Bishop Stephen A. Davis

As of Sunday January 29, 2017 New Birth Missionary Church in Lithonia has a new pastor and first lady. He is Bishop Stephen A. Davis. He will be succeeding the late Bishop Eddie Long, who recently transition to be with the Lord on January 15th, 2017, after an aggressive fight with cancer. He was 63 years old.

The official announcement was made on Sunday morning, in the main sanctuary in front of the morning congregation, by Long’s widow.

Davis will begin his tenure this week. The decision for Davis to take over was actually made more than three years ago, when Bishop Long and the New Birth board of Directors named Davis as the person to take over the mega church in the succession plan.

Davis was formerly the senior pastor, president and board chairman of New Birth Birmingham, formerly known as the Refiner’s House in Birmingham, AL. He has had a growing relationship with New Birth and Bishop Long since 2006.
