When the 40th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Award nominees were announced recently, New Haven Records was thrilled to learn that the multi-award-winning Chicago Mass Choir garnered honors to add to their long list of accolades.
The famed choir was honored with nominations for Choir of the Year and Traditional Choir of the Year when the Stellar Award nominations were announced by Central City Productions on June 15.
For nearly four decades the Chicago Mass Choir has delighted listeners world-wide, as God continues to use their collective gifts and talents for His glory. Over the past 37 years they have received dozens of honors and accolades, including two Grammy nominations, and a Dove Award nomination, as well as a Stellar Award for Choir of the Year.
Under the direction of Dr. Feranda Williamson, who became President and CEO in 1994, the Chicago Mass Choir has completed 17 tours internationally throughout Switzerland, Greece, Italy, Croatia and Spain. In the fall of 2024, the Choir released Greater Is Coming, which marked the 18th full-length recording for the Windy City’s renown musical entourage. The debut release from the recording, “He’s A Wonder,” is destined to continue the Choir’s rich history of delivering Gospel classics, as it is presently receiving heavy airplay at radio stations nationwide.
Dr. Williamson was thrilled and honored when she learned of the most recent Stellar nominations. “To God be the glory!,” Dr. Williamson exclaimed. “It is truly an honor to be nominated for both Choir of the Year and Traditional Choir of the Year. We have been sharing our music ministry for 37 years and we are just blessed to be recognized for what God has ordained us to do–to be a blessing to people around the world.”
The Stellar Awards ceremony will be taped live from the prestigious Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday, August 16. Returning for another unforgettable evening of inspiration and celebration, the 2025 show will feature electrifying performances, heartfelt tributes and special honors recognizing Gospel legends and rising stars alike.
