The Boston Marathon fell victim to a bomb that took with it at least 3 lives and injured more than 120.
“The American people will say a prayer for Boston tonight Michelle and I send our deepest thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims in the wake of this senseless loss,” said President Obama in the wake of the tragic April 15 terrorist attack.
Initially, Obama was reluctant to use the word “terror” or “attack” when describing the events early on. However, a followup statement from a White House official was more definite.
“Any event with multiple explosive devices — as this appears to be — is clearly an act of terror, and will be approached as an act of terror,” the official said.
“However, we don’t yet know who carried out this attack, and a thorough investigation will have to determine whether it was planned and carried out by a terrorist group, foreign or domestic.”
The Christian community responded by taking to the social networks to extend thoughts and prayers to the wounded.
