Lauren Daigle’s New Song Pays Tribute to Bonhoeffer in Upcoming Film

Lauren Daigle’s New Song Pays Tribute to Bonhoeffer in Upcoming Film

Christian artist Lauren Daigle has revealed that her latest song, “Then I Will,” will appear in the forthcoming film Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Spy, Assassin, set for a Nov. 22 theatrical release.

The movie tells the story of German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who was executed in 1945 for opposing the Nazi regime. The film is inspired by Eric Metaxas’s biography Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy, which won the 2011 Christian Book of the Year award.

“When I read the book Bonhoeffer, I never expected to one day write a song for the film adaptation of it,” Daigle wrote on X last week, adding that she was “thrilled” to be included.

The song, now available on streaming platforms, includes: “I’ll surrender everything/ All for Your will/ Abandon every part of me/ All for Your will/ No matter what the cost will be/ If it’s for me to die for love/ Then I will.”

“When I was approached about joining the [film] project, I immediately said ‘Yes!’” Daigle said. “Bonhoeffer had unwavering faith, and his commitment to stand up for the vulnerable and speak truth in the face of evil is a challenge to everyone. Are we willing to die for our neighbor?”

Angel Studios, which produced “The Chosen,” is also behind the upcoming film.

“We knew then that she would capture the man and his heart with her music,” said “Bonhoeffer” producer Camille Kampouris regarding Daigle’s participation.

Komarnicki told The Christian Post, “Life is just better with maximum Lauren Daigle in it. She shines from the inside out and illuminates with utter poignancy the truth of this movie’s message.”
