TBN to Air Classic Holiday Films Beginning Christmas Eve

TBN to Air Classic Holiday Films Beginning Christmas EveChristmas week will be classic on the Trinity Broadcasting Network, as America’s favorite faith-and-family channel features three classic holiday films the whole family will enjoy.

It all starts December 24th, Christmas Eve, as TBN airs Jesus of Nazareth, director Franco Zeffirelli’s popular television drama that tells with vivid cinematography the story of the Savior, beginning with His magnificent birth and culminating with His death and glorious resurrection. This powerful movie features big screen legends Sir Laurence Olivier, Michael York, James Mason, Rod Steiger, Anne Bancroft, and Robert Powell as Jesus. Check here for broadcast times.

On Christmas Day TBN will bring to TV the 1965 big screen epic, The Greatest Story Ever Told, an unforgettable dramatic retelling of Jesus’ life from birth to resurrection. The film, which was nominated for five Academy Awards, features Max von Sydow as Jesus, along with an all-star cast that includes Charlton Heston, Claud Rains, Jose Ferrer, Dorothy McGuire, and many others. Check here for broadcast times.

And on December 26th TBN will feature a holiday family tradition, Going My Way, starring Bing Crosby as youthful Catholic priest Father Chuck O’Malley, whose unconventional style transforms a failing New York City parish, much to the chagrin of his elderly superior Father Fitzgibbon, played by the beloved Barry Fitzgerald. Going My Way was the highest grossing movie in 1944 and won seven Academy Awards, including for Best Picture. A legendary master of the American popular song, Bing Crosby used his unmistakable voice to turn several of the film’s musical numbers into hits, including “Going My Way,” the haunting Irish lullaby “Too Ra Loo Ra Loo Ra,” and the light-hearted “Swinging on a Star” — which also took an Academy Award for Best Song. Check here for broadcast times.

“The holiday season has always been a special time of wonder and tradition at TBN,” noted TBN Vice President Matthew Crouch. “We’re honored to bring these three cinematic treasures to our viewers to make their Christmas week even more special.”

If your are unable to receive broadcast, cable, or satellite television, you can still view TBN — along with many other members of the Trinity Broadcasting Family of Networks — any time day or night at TBN’s online streaming network, www.itbn.org.
