‘The Chosen’ Director Dallas Jenkins’ Vision for a New Series about Book of Acts

‘The Chosen’ Director Dallas Jenkins’ Vision for a New Series about Book of Acts

The creator and director of ‘The Chosen’ is currently dedicated to producing new seasons but expresses a strong interest in developing a series based on the book of Acts once his current projects are completed.

Dallas Jenkins said his current focus is on making Season 5 of The Chosen, although he acknowledged he enjoys stories about the early church.

He revealed that Season 7 will include scenes from the beginning of the Book of Acts, spotlighting the “launch of the ministry of the disciples.”

“We’re not going to go very far in the book of Acts at the end of Season 7,” Jenkins told media members during a virtual news conference. “But I would absolutely love — and I’m hopeful — that I can continue telling the story of the birth of the church and the greatest moment in history. So right now, I’m just focused on Season 5.”

Jenkins previously joked, “After I nap for about a year when The Chosen is done, we’ve got other Bible stories to tell because the demand seems to be so strong.”

Season 4 launched on Prime Video on July 1, roughly one month after it enjoyed its streaming debut on The Chosen app.

Meanwhile, another Jenkins project—The Best Christmas Pageant Ever—revealed its official trailer and poster on July 1. The holiday movie, based on the classic book of the same name, is scheduled to hit theaters on Nov. 8. Jenkins directed it.

It follows the story of a group of siblings (the Herdmans) from a troubled background who unexpectedly auditioned for roles in a Christmas play. Although townspeople and church members oppose their participation, the play’s director supports them.

Jesus was born for the Herdmans as much as he was for us,” she says in the trailer. “We’ll be missing the whole point of the story if we turn them away.”
