Save the date for the Gospel Music Concert and Tribute to the Honorable Sheila Jackson Lee on September 13, 2024 4:30-6:30 pm HVC 215 at the U.S. Capital.
For 17 years Congresswoman Jackson Lee sponsored a House Resolution Expressing support for the designation of September as “Gospel Music Heritage Month” and honored Gospel music for its valuable and longstanding contributions to the culture of the United States.
In support of this legislation the office of the 18th Congressional District of Texas, will be hosting a concert featuring Gospel music artists, Maurette Brown Clark and other notables.
This year’s celebration of Gospel Music is being held to honor Congresswoman Jackson Lee as a Member of Congress and to recognize her advocacy for the preservation of Gospel Music.
All are invited to join in this celebration of a true American artform, and to pay tribute to an extraordinary woman who made it her mission to recognize Gospel Music’s importance to so many in the United States and around the world.
The program will include messages from colleagues from both sides of the aisle who love Gospel and knew Congresswoman Jackson Lee’s commitment to Gospel music, collegiality, and working on behalf of the people she represented.
