Gospel Artist Sue Neil Says “I Came Away From Secular Music” – New Single ‘Shining’ Out Now

Gospel Artist Sue Neil Says “I Came Away From Secular Music” – New Single ‘Shining’ Out NowAt times, our journeys in life can speak volumes to our present situation and future. This is true for new Gospel artist Sue Neil’s music career and call to ministry. In 2014, Sue Neil spoke with the media about her early days in secular music and how she balances Pastoring a church and working a recording artist.

During an in depth interview with Robert Marovich of The Journal of Gospel Music, Sue discussed Fred Hammond, being called to Pastor a church, writing songs and her connection to Secular music.

Check out a few quotes from Sue Neil’s interview below:

“I started writing songs early, between the ages of 12 and 14. I’m blessed to be gifted to write for several genres of music.”

“I was called to Pastor while touring with a famous secular dance band. “When I came away from touring, I was ordained as a Minister and Youth Pastor. All of this happened over a span of 10 years. I Pastor a church, where 98% of the members are under the age of 40.”

“I came away from secular music, but music never came away from me. My love for God and fear of Him, would have me throw all of that away, just for him.”

“If we’re trying to preach the Gospel over music, then the music has to be communicated in a way that it will be received and it has to be able to reach the listener’s ears.”

“Fred Hammond is my writing influence, whenever I do particular songs, I always think, what would Fred do here? I often think of his writing style, he has been a major influence with my songwriting.”
