Erica and Tina Campbell of Mary Mary, lost their father Eddie A. Atkins to Cancer yesterday. Atkins was a youth minister, a church elder, a husband and a father of eight children.
Along with his wife, an evangelist/choir director, Atkins encouraged his daughters to get involved with singing in church choirs and beyond.
Mary Mary acknowledged their father’s passing in the following tweets:

Atkins appeared on Mary Mary’s reality show on WE tv where we got to know him a little better. The WE Television series suggested some unresolved issues with their father, but it was clear that the girls loved him.
Recently, Erica Campbell decided to go solo, releasing her first single as a solo artist. The duo has said that they will probably release more music as a group in the future. Tina Campbell wrote several songs on Erica’s upcoming album to aid in her solo endeavors.
Eddie Atkins was reportedly battling cancer for a longtime.
