This year’s BET Awards was one of the best ones as far as entertainment value is concerned. That coupled with nobody getting into a fight, made the show recognizing African American achievement a success.
Gospel’s Tamela Mann took home the award for Best Gospel Artist. She beats out Erica Campbell, Tye Tribbett, Hezekiah Walker, and Donnie McClurkin.
Mann will be on the network a lot after recently inking a reality TV show deal with BET titled ‘Meet the Manns.’
Yolanda Adams absolutely tore up the Awards with her tribute to Lionel Richie.
Lionel was the lifetime achievement award recipient. He was serenaded by John Legend, Ledisi and Yolanda Adams, who sang a rousing rendition of “Jesus Is Love.” The Gospel powerhouse earned a lengthy standing ovation.
If you missed it Sunday, look for the awards to re-air on BET during the week.
