TYSCOT RECORDS TO RECEIVE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD DURING 47TH ANNUAL DOVE AWARDS

TYSCOT RECORDS TO RECEIVE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD DURING 47TH ANNUAL DOVE AWARDS

[Dr. Leonard Scott]

The Gospel Music Association (GMA) has announced that Tyscot Records will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award during the 47th Annual GMA Dove Awards that takes place Tuesday, October 11 at Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena in Nashville.

The Indianapolis-based firm is the oldest-existing black gospel recording label in the USA and it is currently celebrating its 40th year of operations. It was founded by dentist Leonard S. Scott and his nephew Craig Tyson. They originally ran Tyscot out of Dr. Scott’s dental office. Over the years, Tyscot has introduced the world to gospel superstars such as John P. Kee, Deitrick Haddon, Vashawn Mitchell and Anthony Brown & group therAPy that all kicked off their recording careers with Tyscot.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to an entity, other than an individual, which has made a monumental achievement in the gospel music industry over the last 20 or more years. Previous winners include The Gospel Music Workshop of America, the song “How Great Thou Art,” and the Gaither Organization (group of companies). Founder Dr. Leonard S. Scott and his son, Bryant Scott, who is the President of Tyscot, will both be in attendance.

Anthony Brown & group therAPy is set to perform its No. 1 hit “Worth” from his No. 1 album “Everyday Jesus” (Key of A/Tyscot) on the show. The group is also up for four Dove Awards including the prestigious Song of the Year Award for “Worth.” Tyscot’s rising star Briana Babineaux is also nominated for her No. 1 debut album “Keys To My Heart” (Marquis Boone/Tyscot) that is up for an award in the category of Urban Worship Album of the Year. Babineaux will also be the backstage social media news correspondent for the show. She will interview various artists and Dove Award winners throughout the evening. Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) will exclusively air the GMA Dove Awards on Sunday, October 16th.

“Feel Good! 40 Years of Life Changing Music” is a compilation album of some of Tyscot’s greatest hits over the last four decades. It is available in retail stores, Amaz.com and in the iTunes Store.
