President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama and Sasha, and Malia Obama are the official faces of America’s First Family.
But Cosmopolitan Magazine’s November cover gives the Kardashians that distinguished title and gospel singer Yolanda Adams is not happy about it.
“I usually don’t get into The Kardashian world but I am deeply disappointed in Cosmo’s Nov issue deeming them America’s First Family,” wrote Adams, 54, on her official Facebook page.
The “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” stars, Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner are seen on the 50th anniversary cover posing in all white.
In bold pink font it reads, “America’s First Family,” and just like that, the reality TV royals were crowned.
She then added, “Though who knows, if Kanye runs for president then we may be soothsayers,” alluding to Kanye West’s MTV Awards announcement that he will run for president in 2020.
Despite Demitry’s attempt to defuse tension, Adams is not amused.
“This is regrettable and selfish,” reads the post written by the host of the nationally syndicated “Yolanda Adams Morning Show.”
She ended by writing in all-caps, “NEVER BUYING COSMO EVER!!!”
As of Tuesday afternoon, Adams’ post had already received over 12,000 likes, nearly 3,000 shares and more than 2,000 comments.
Continuing with the sex-focused publication’s explanatory statement, Demitry said, “The Kardashians and Jenners have more digital followers than any other family, more than 350 million and counting. They are a huge cultural phenomenon.”
She added, “What we do know is there is nothing like the cover of a magazine to provoke a national conversation.”
