R&B Singer Brandy on Recording a Gospel Album “It Would Be A Dream Come True”

R&B Singer Brandy on Recording a Gospel Album “It Would Be A Dream Come True”R&B/pop singer Brandy recently revealed that she is contemplating the idea of creating a gospel album after realizing that it would be an accomplishment for her to inspire those who want to be uplifted with truthful music.

“I was thinking about that the other day. I was like, I should really put together a gospel/inspirational type of album. That would be a dream come true,” said Brandy in an interview with the James Fortune Radio Show.

She added, “There are so many people that want to be uplifted and are craving for that truthful music. And a lot of people in the gospel world show so much appreciation for me. I’ve come in contact with so many people that have shown me a lot of love. So, I would love to dibble and dabble in the word with my music. That would be awesome.”

Brandy counts gospel singers Kim Burrell, Yolanda Adams, the Clark sisters, Fred Hammond and more as her favorite faith-based artists and friends. In the past, she has said gospel is not entirely out of her musical realm as she has been familiar with it for years.

“I just love gospel, that’s where I’m from and my dad taught me everything I know. He used to sing this song called ‘Led by the Spirit’ and those words stuck with me,” said Brandy to Richmond, Va.-based radio station, Praise 104.7.

The possible project would allow Brandy to temporarily step outside of secular music, which she returned to in 2012 with her comeback album Two Eleven after taking a four year break from recording.

During her time away from music, Brandy and brother Ray J starred along with their parents in their own family reality series, “Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business.” She also appeared on “Dancing with the Stars” in 2012 as part of her comeback to mainstream entertainment.

The year 2012 was also a major year for the songstress as she also became engaged to music executive Ryan Press despite saying that love was out of the question for her.

“At one point I gave up on love, so to have this feeling and for it to be like the first time, with the person that I feel like God has created for me to be with, it feels magical,” Brandy told PopStopTV.

Brandy, who has been in the entertainment and music industry for over 20 years, was discovered while singing at her father’s church, where he was the choir director and where she revealed during an episode of VH1’s “Behind the Music” that she was able to sing freely because she felt supported and not judged.
