Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company are pleased to announce that audiences can attend Early Access Worship Screenings of the highly anticipated film I CAN ONLY IMAGINE 2 on February 14 at 5:00pm local time.
Ahead of the wide release, moviegoers are invited to gather in theaters for a special worship experience available exclusively at these screenings. The film opens nationwide February 20.
“From the very beginning, our hope for I CAN ONLY IMAGINE 2 was that the story wouldn’t end when the credits roll,” said co-director Andrew Erwin. “These Early Access Worship Screenings create a space for audiences to reflect and uniquely experience the story in a deeper, more personal way, together. We can’t wait for people to share this moment in community.”
I CAN ONLY IMAGINE 2 follows the 2018 record-breaking hit, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE. The original film captured hearts around the globe and became one of the most successful faith-based films in history, bringing in over $83 million at the box office.
Starring John Michael Finley, Milo Ventimiglia, Sophie Skelton, Arielle Kebbel, Sammy Dell, with Trace Adkins and Dennis Quaid, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE 2 brings Bart Millard’s (MercyMe) story full circle as he faces the challenges of fatherhood, faith, and keeping hope alive through life’s hardest moments. The film is co-directed by Andrew Erwin and Brent McCorkle, and written by Brent McCorkle.
Synopsis: After the breakout success of the song “I Can Only Imagine,” MercyMe’s Bart Millard (John Michael Finley) is living the dream—sold-out arenas, a devoted fan base, and a thriving career. But behind the spotlight, Bart’s past threatens the family he’s built, especially the fragile bond with his son, Sam (Sammy Dell).
When hopeful newcomer Tim Timmons (Milo Ventimiglia, “This Is Us”) joins the band for their biggest tour yet, he unknowingly brings a renewed gratitude to Bart’s life through their unlikely friendship. Bart soon discovers that Tim carries hardships—and secrets—of his own, forcing Bart to face his past and repair his relationships with Sam and his wife, Shannon (Sophie Skelton), before fame costs him what matters most. Based on the heartfelt true story behind the hit single “Even If,” I CAN ONLY IMAGINE 2 is the inspiring next chapter of faith, family, and finding God in the fire.
Lionsgate presents, a Kingdom Story Company production, in association with Mission Pictures International. The film is produced by Kevin Downes, Andrew Erwin, Cindy Bond, Bart Millard, Daryl Lefever, and Joshua Walsh. It is executive produced by Tony Young, Bernie Stern, Brent McCorkle, Scott Brickell, and Dylan Bond.
