Cody Holley is a Louisiana-born soulful Gospel and worship singer known for his passionate vocal style and dedication to inspirational music.
His recent single, “God Loves The Broken,” is a beautiful warm ballad that he offers as a personal testimony of failures and defeat that God can turn into wholeness and victory. In follow-up to “God Loves The Broken,” Cody is releasing a new song each month now through April.
Cody’s new single “By & By” reflects his roots growing up in the Pentecostal Church. He teamed up with powerhouse vocalist Marcus Cole, formerly of Commissioned, on the remake of the classic hymn. The two transform the song with folds of Urban and Southern Gospel inflections. Their unique collaboration unifies their voices in pursuit of reaching multiple generations.
Cody explains, “Bishop Clint Brown and I were talking about the importance of bridging the gap between older and younger generations. We both started singing the old hymn We’ll Understand It Better By and By. We flowed through revamping the song, and I was blessed to have Khristian Dentley and Bishop Brown co-produce it.”
“We’ll Understand It Better By And By” was originally composed by Charles Albert Tindley in the early 1900s. Tindley was a pastor, orator, poet, writer, theologian, and social activist whose many hymns have been revisited, revised, and revamped from generation to generation, just as Cody Holley has creatively done.
“By & By is a fiery reimagining of a great Gospel standard honoring the rich legacy of hymns while igniting it with new colors,” says Marcus Cole. “Collaborating with Cody’s soulful voice was so much fun. This record bridges tradition and the prolificacy of what’s needed now!”

The song is produced by Khristian Dentley, of the GRAMMY® Award-winning group Take 6, and GRAMMY®-nominated and Dove Award-winning songwriter and artist Bishop Clint Brown. “By & By” is part of Cody’s forthcoming EP THE MOMENT YOU STEP IN, releasing later this year.
