Finally, the time has come to welcome in the holidays. Songwriter, singer, and pastor of Excel Church in Bowie, MD, Pastor David A. Porter, Sr., is ushering in the season with a new holiday anthem and Christmas carol.
Porter began writing songs over 30 years ago, but didn’t start recording and releasing music until 2021. “Finally Christmas” marks his debut original Christmas release, which is followed by a companion track, “The Announcement.”
“Finally Christmas is a song I wrote more than 15 years ago to welcome the joy and wonder of the holiday season while celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” Porter explains. “After all these years, I’m thrilled to share this long-awaited Christmas anthem with the world finally.”
“Finally Christmas” is an infectious anthem and holiday music standard in the making. The background vocalists beautifully lift the melody, while the musicians infuse the track with an undeniable sense of jubilee and festive power. Porter ingeniously interwove reflections of some of the best-loved holiday classics into “Finally Christmas,” including “Go Tell It On The Mountain,” God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” and “Angels We Have Heard On High.”

“The Announcement,” written and produced by Porter, is a companion track that is a festive, classically constructed carol. Porter and his singers tell the story of the birth of Christ majestically, accompanied by a rich tapestry of strings, horns, bells, and cymbals, creating the fullness of a live orchestra.
“The Announcement is a triumphal Christmas declaration that joyfully proclaims the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ,” says Porter. “My background choir delivers a stunning performance, especially in the Hallelujah chorus, leaving listeners inspired and rejoicing.”
