Earnest Pugh Responds Publicly to Charlie Kirk Post

Earnest Pugh Responds Publicly to Charlie Kirk Post

Earnest Pugh recognizes that people have strong emotions about the death of Charlie Kirk.

Pugh understands that his recent post (which has since been taken down) regarding Kirk has caused concern and sparked some serious backlash.  It was never Pugh’s intention to agree with political violence in any form, celebrate the death of someone who has been assassinated for exercising their constitutional right to free speech, diminish Kirk’s life, or the pain felt by his family, friends, and supporters.

While Pugh may not have agreed with Mr. Kirk’s views, he recognizes that every life has value and that Kirk’s loss is deeply felt by many.

Below is an Official Statement from Earnest Pugh and how his own experiences and beliefs have shaped his perspective.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

Understanding Earnest

I was just two years old when Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated less than 30 miles from my mother’s living room in a city called Millington, Tennessee, so my response to rhetoric that diminishes our democracy that our forefathers and mothers fought so hard to obtain is triggering and causes immediate pushback.

My responsibility and contribution as a public figure:

God amplified my voice in the earth at two crucial moments in society and has empowered me to always be able to give a reason for the hope inside me, which often requires me to speak truth to power, no matter who takes issue with it.

During the recession, God used my radio single “Rain On Us” as an outcry for provision on behalf of people in dry places.

During the global pandemic, God used my radio single “God Wants To Heal You” to comfort and remind people afflicted with COVID of God’s word in John 3: 1-2 where “Healing is God’s top priority”

Earnestly Yours
