He Calls Me Daughter’: A Documentary of Hope for Women with Father Wounds – In Theatres March 17-18

He Calls Me Daughter’: A Documentary of Hope for Women with Father Wounds – In Theatres March 17-18

Fathom Entertainment, the leading specialty distributor of content to theatrical partners worldwide, in partnership with award-winning director Rick Altizer, announced today the upcoming theatrical release of the new documentary film He Calls Me Daughter.

Premiering in theatres nationwide March 17-18, 2026, the film explores the importance of a father in a woman’s life and the hope and healing available in Christ.

Following the success of Altizer’s documentary, Show Me The Father (2021)which explores five stories of fatherhood and the connection to God’s fatherhood, Altizer realized there was another important story that needed to be told about the role of fathers.

He Calls Me Daughter follows the stories of several women and their various experiences with the father figures in their lives as they grew up. From love-filled to painful and abusive relationships, each interview shows the profound influence fathers have on their daughters.

“The role of a father is one that cannot be overstated,” said Altizer. “Strong families are the foundation of a healthy society, and fathers play the most vital role in this family structure. He Calls Me Daughter and the stories of these women show just how enormous an impact fathers have on their daughters’ sense of worthy and identity.”

He Calls Me Daughter features:

• Chonda Pierce, The Top Selling Female Comedian in History (RIAA)

• Alex Kendrick, Actor and Filmmaker (War Room, The Forge)

• Meg Meeker, Author of Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters

• Lynsi Snyder, President and Owner of In-N-Out Burger®

• BJ Arnett, Actress (The Forge), Producer and Professor

• Dee Dee Mayer, Director of Boone Center for the Family at Pepperdine University

• Rachelle Starr, Founder and President of Scarlet Hope

• Kia Stephens, Speaker and Author of Overcoming Father Wounds

• Michael Reeves, President of Union School of Theology

• Kenny Silva, Pastor at Hickory Grove Church

The film highlights how fathers play a crucial role in guiding children with biblical values and cultivating a Christ-centered sense of security and belonging. For women especially, the role of the father is critical. When the love of a father is lacking, it can cause deep wounds and scars.

“Many women who have a father wound in their heart don’t necessarily know it. They know that something deep hurts, but they don’t know what it is,” said Dr. Meg Meeker, author of the national bestseller Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters. “The truth is that every daughter needs affirmation from her dad. If she doesn’t get it, all she knows is that she’s not worth loving.”

He Calls Me Daughter highlights how many women who do not feel the full support and love from their father grow to develop trust issues, fear of abandonment or rejection and have difficulty maintaining healthy romantic relationships. This absence often strains and complicates the ability to understand the unconditional love of their perfect heavenly Father.

“Women are in dire need of a fatherly presence in their life to provide guidance and point them to Christ,” said Rachelle Starr, founder of Scarlet Hope and supporter of the film. “Without that, women will spend their lives searching for something else to try and fill that irreplaceable hole in their heart.”

Both fathers and daughters alike can find strength and hope in the message of He Calls Me Daughter. The film serves as a reminder for viewers that no matter who their earthly parents are, they are first and foremost children of God.

“I began to see that this Heavenly Father loves me in a way no earthly father could ever possibly figure out,” said Pierce. “God is my father, I am loved, and He calls me daughter. A heavenly father changes everything.”

Tickets for He Calls Me Daughter will be available on January 30, 2026, at Fathom Entertainment and participating theatre box offices (theatre locations are subject to change).
