Gospel Artist CD Porter Releases New Praise & Worship CD, “Declaration”, On May 22

CD Porter has been called by God to exalt the name of the Lord.  The Director of Worship Ministry at New Life Anointed Ministries International in Woodbridge, VA, entered the gospel music scene with the release of his lead single, “With One Sound”.  The praise and worship anthem was followed by the release of his new single, “You Are My All”. Both cuts are from the brand new project entitled Declaration releasing on Tuesday, May 22, 2012.

The artist held his Pre-release Concert at Vision Community Church in Fredericksburg, VA, on Saturday, May 19th showcasing songs from the new CD.  Joined by fellow praise and worship leaders Javon Inman and Michael “Eldridge” Thornton and hosted by Brother Reggie of Rejoice America Radio, the event gave the artist a chance to introduce songs from the project to a waiting and praise-filled audience.

“The Pre-release Event was phenomenal,” recalls CD.  “The whole experience was beyond my expectations.  Not only was the worship that evening powerful and authentic, but it was also so wonderful to see people from different stages of my ministry worshipping God together on one accord.  The whole evening was surreal.  For me, the spirit of unity was validation of what I believe God wants to do through this new project.”

Declaration is an amazing collection of upbeat praise and heart-jerking worship.  In the role of principle songwriter, Porter takes the lead in formulating a comforting place for the lover of God to bask in His glory.  Through the 11 tracks, this gifted psalmist takes us from handclapping to hands lifted using a variety of contemporary musical styles.

“With One Sound” is a praise and worship-flavored, musical feast.  Focusing on unity in the body of Christ, the song is the perfect opener for Sunday morning.  Undoubtedly one of this release’s strongest songs, “You Are My All” showcases the vocal talents of CD Porter.  It’s an R&B-flavored tune accented with beautiful, crisp harmonies.  The song’s message speaks of the importance of God to the singer.  Other memorable cuts include the pretty “Secret Place”, the high octane, danceable “So Good”, and the unforgettable “When I Worship”.  The full project is currently available on iTunes.

A resident of Stafford, VA, CD felt the call to music ministry at the age of twelve.  Since that time, Porter has honed his craft, developing his talents and gifts to edify the body of Christ.  An anointed singer, songwriter, musician, and producer, Porter serves as Director of Worship Ministry at the New Life Anointed Ministries International in Woodbridge, VA.  He dropped his debut record, Work In Progress, in 2007.

A true worshiper, CD Porter says worship is crucial to lovers of Christ.  “Worship is essential to the believer,” shares CD.  “It’s not only our time to commune with God and hear the heart of God, but it’s our chance to reveal our heart to Him.  It’s our time to come to Him, purely submitted, bowing and bending our will to His.”  More information about CD Porter can be found at www.CDPorterMusic.com.

Arsenio Hall in the Middle of a Bidding War to Bring His Talkshow Back

It’s been a long road back for the former talk show host Arsenio Hall.  His hugely famous show once had everyone Fist pumping and saying whoop whoop.

Now after winning Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice, Hall’s career is picking up steam.

TMZ broke the story that  3 networks are “very interested” in signing the comic to a TV deal.

Hall has been gunning to get back behind a desk ever since “The Arsenio Hall Show” went off the air back in 1994.

Now, with his newfound Trump-powered momentum … sources tell us NBC and two other broadcast groups are all making a play for Arsenio … though it’s unclear if Hall would fit in daytime or late-night.

Hall is a late-night legend … who, along with “The Simpsons,” helped build FOX into a juggernaut when they premiered in 1989.

Arsenio Hall is the son of a Baptist minister named Fred Hall.  But it was an interview with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan that cost Hall his job.

The tension arose from Hall’s invitation to Louis Farrakhan in February 1994. Hall gave the entire hour to Farrakhan and did not do anything else besides conduct an interview. The program was canceled in May 1994.

Hall used his fame during this period to help fight worldwide prejudice against HIV and AIDS, after Magic Johnson contracted the disease; Hall and Johnson filmed a PSA about the disease that aired in the early 1990s.

So if Arsenio does get his show back, expect him to be very hesitant on inviting another religious guest to the show.

Will you be watching the show?

‘Tebowing’ Will Be Featured in Madden 2013

Madden 2013 just got that much more true to life as the new game is set to include “Tebowing,” the famous prayer stance of New York Jet, Tim Tebow.

The former Denver Bronco quarterback made his patented “Tebowing” a staple during his tenure on the team and it seems that EA Sports, the creator of Madden Football has taken notice.

Michael Young, the creative director of the upcoming Madden game recently posted the information on his Twitter account.

“Tebowing is in for #madden13,” he tweeted.

And even though the prayer pose was made famous while he was a Bronco, Tebow will play for the New York Jets in Madden 2013, the team he was traded to after Denver acquired former Indiana Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.

It is not known when exactly Tim will be “Tebowing” in the game, but when he does it is sure to excite fans of the former Denver Broncos quarterback.

The new Madden will be released on Aug. 28 2011 for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.

The cover of the game will feature Detroit Lions receiver Calvin “Megatron” Johnson.

Tim Tebow became a hit among fans this past NFL season when he brought the Denver Broncos into the AFC championship by winning games against the odds, and “Tebowing,” or simply praying during every single game.

He recently explained the history of “Tebowing” to over 3,000 parishioners of Canyon Ridge Christian Church in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“I’m pretty sure I’m not the first athlete to get down on one knee and pray,” the Las Vegas Sun quoted Tebow as saying. “It’s funny, I’ve been doing this same exact routine for the last seven years and for some reason this was the first year that people started talking about it.”

3 charged in carjacking of Pastor Marvin Winans

Three young men were arraigned Sunday in the assault and carjacking of popular Detroit pastor and gospel singing icon Marvin Winans.

The office of Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy identified the suspects as Detroit residents Montoya Givens and Christopher Moorehead, both 20, and Brian K. Young, 18, of Macomb County‘s Clinton Township. They are charged with carjacking, unarmed robbery and conspiracy, said Maria Miller, Worthy’s spokeswoman.

The charges carry up to life in prison.

The men appeared in Detroit’s 36th District Court and were ordered held on $200,000 bonds. Their preliminary examinations, in which a judge decides where there’s enough evidence for the case to go to trial, are June 1.

A prosecutor’s spokeswoman said Sunday she didn’t think the defendants had lawyers yet.

Winans, 54, was attacked Wednesday afternoon while pumping gas in Detroit. The robbers took his sport utility vehicle, Rolex watch, cash and credit cards.

“This is just an example of the diligence that our officers put forth when investigating criminal cases,” police Chief Ralph Godbee said in a statement Sunday.

Worthy said she also was pleased with closing the case, but got in a dig at the effectiveness of Detroit police. She said she was “buoyed by the fact that this case was well investigated by the police and that we were able to charge this case quickly. However, with the proper resources this could be done in all cases.”

She also said the city should be concerned about an increase in crime, especially offenses that never make it into police records.

Godbee said he agreed with Worthy that “reported crime …has slightly increased.” He called on citizens to make sure crimes are reported and that they cooperate with investigators in solving solve them.

                      The 3 Suspects

Winans sustained bruises and scrapes and was treated at a hospital and released. He is pastor of the 4,500-member Perfecting Church and delivered singer Whitney Houston’s eulogy in February.

“I’m just saddened that it has come to this,” Winans said shortly after the attack. “This kind of nonsense just has to stop. It’s just the savageness of what’s happening in the street.”

He continued with that message Sunday, as his congregants welcomed him with cheers and applause.

Recalling what he said to a woman who gave him a ride to his church after the attack, Winans said he told her, “I’m just sad … to think we have reared young men to prey — P-R-E-Y — on people that they think are weaker.”

Winans told reporters before the service that he believes Detroit can be turned around.

“The city is fixable, and it starts with the men of the city, in particular the black men,” he said. “And I … want to urge all of you men who hear me to go and get your sons. I’m not bitter. I’m not upset. I’m saddened by what has taken place. But I’m also inspired. We have to make a change in this city.”

Derrick Wright, Son of Late Gospel Legend, Rev. Timothy Wright, Turns Tragedy Into Triumph With Gospel Debut

Derrick Wright has been surrounded by music all his life.  The son of the late gospel legend, Rev. Timothy Wright, remembers walking into his living room seeing artists like Kurt Carr and Hezekiah Walker singing with his father.  Now, the renowned drummer returns to his gospel roots with the debut release of Derrick Wright & Driven.

Wright’s new project is a collection of gospel cuts and remakes.  He even revamps some of his father’s popular songs.  “Master Can You Use Me” is given a contemporary twist with the vocal stylings of gospel powerhouse singer Melonie Daniels.  Also, “You Are My Everything”, another Rev. Timothy Wright classic, is covered by the younger Wright.  Wright also brings in famed gospel star Cheryl “Pepsi” Riley as guest vocalist on “It Will Be Alright”.  Additional tracks include “More of You” featuring Jeff Roberson and “Fly Away” featuring Bettina Pennon.  The full release is available on iTunes.

Hailing from gospel music royalty, Derrick Wright is set to continue the legacy of the gospel music heavyweight.  A gifted and talented musician in his own right, Derrick Wright has the musical Midas touch.  Currently, the Co-Music Director and Drummer for mainstream GRAMMY Award-winning pop artist Adele and Drummer for GRAMMY Winner and R&B sensation Toni Braxton, Wright is known as a musician’s musician.  But even with his amazing talent, he was not able to escape life’s challenges.  With the sudden death of his mother and nephew and subsequent passing of his father, Wright experienced unimaginable grief.  His faith was the only thing that brought him through.  Never straying from his gospel roots, the debut gospel self-titled record Derrick Wright & Driven is a collection of moving and inspirational gospel cuts.  The project not only celebrates the unshakable faith of the artist, but carries the torch of the Wright family, known for delivering timeless and riveting gospel songs.

It was his father’s inspiration that helped him to name the ensemble, Driven. “After my mother died, my father planned her funeral from his hospital bed,” recounts Derrick.  “People would come to encourage him and he would end up encouraging them.  My father was always pushing; he was driven.  I have taken that drive and used it in my life.”  The nine singers are friends and all have been through trying times, but each one has a testimony as well.  The group is purpose-driven and has no problem giving God all the praise.  The ensemble dropped their debut release in 2011 to rave reviews.  Derrick has recently been covered in Essence, JET and Sister2Sister Magazines.  More information about Derrick Wright and Driven can be found at www.DerrickWrightAndDriven.com.
