Encore Presentation of Gospel Dance Showcase, “Dance Saints, Dance! 2011” Set to Air Via Online Broadcast

Dance Saints, Dance! 2011 was undoubtedly a night to remember. This Gospel dance showcase, executively produced by Khalif M. Townes, by far exceeded the expectations of everyone in attendance. Talented Praise and Mime Ministries from across the country made their way to Philadelphia to give Glory to God in the form of dance. Collectively, they all gave uplifting, motivational performances that were relatable to everyone in the building. Townes did an exceptional job handpicking the talent, as they were all received and appreciated by the audience. Every performance earned a standing ovation at the least; some caused people to shed tears.

Although the event was a dance showcase, highlights of the night were the performances from a few of the biggest names in the Gospel Music Industry today. Not only did Four Time Grammy Award-Winning Songstress, Karen Clark-Sheard, and the Stellar Award-Nominee and New “ Leading Man” of Gospel, Earnest Pugh, host the event, but they both delivered anointed, powerful performances. Also, Stellar Award-Winning Gospel Singer and Nationally Syndicated Radio Host, Lonnie Hunter gave two amazing performances with assistance from his choir, Structure. All three performers rocked the house with their fan-favorite hits!

“Once again, Philadelphia’s own, Khalif Townes, has done it!! Phenomenal showcase, featuring many anointed, talented, and gifted dancers across the nation and gospel artists! It’s a pleasure to work with you and we look forward to Dance Saints Dance 2012!! 10th Anniversary!!” says Robin Maddox, SHINE Consultants.

“All I can say is WOW. I was encouraged, motivated and truly blessed by the performances. This was my first encounter with your productions and I pray you will continue to let God use you. Thank you and may the favor of God continue to be with you,” says Jane Williams, audience member.

Dance Saints, Dance! has become a national event, making it a challenge for many to attend in person. To cope with this problem, Townes streamed the showcase live via the internet and plans to re-air the show for an encore presentation. Now everyone who missed the show will be able to see the performances from Karen Clark Sheard, Earnest Pugh, Lonnie Hunter and some of the BEST Praise and Mime Dancers in the United States!

To view the encore of Dance Saints, Dance! 2011 order an Online Viewing Pass at UrbanTix.com! After you place your order, you will receive a unique web link to where you can log on and watch the show. The showcase will air online at 8:00pm EST, on December 28, 2011 so gather the family and enjoy the show just in time for the holidays!

Gospel Artists to Raise Voices, Stroke Awareness through Most Powerful Voices Competition

Today, there are many singing competitions, but none that is quite like this. The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, GMC TV, Roland and Light Records launch the Most Powerful Voices online singing competition that may save a life!

Most Powerful Voices, held now through March 5 is open to indie artists, groups and choirs singing gospel, praise, worship and holy hip hop music.  Competitors, who must be at least 18 years-old, just need to visit power.watchgmctv.com and upload a video or MP3 file between now and January 27, 2012 and get people to vote for them through February 24.  When people register to participate as a competitor or as a voter they are registering to receive potentially life-saving stroke information.

The top 10 finalists will have an opportunity for their singing to be judged by gospel music industry leaders such as the Vice President of Entertainment One Gospel and President of A&R, Light Records James Robinson and famed singer Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child.

The overall winner will receive:
  • Opportunity to perform at the American Heart Association’s Power Weekend at a prominent location in New York
  • $5,000 worth of music equipment from Roland manufacturer and distributor of electronic musical instruments
  • $2,500 from Light Records
  • $2,500 travel stipend
  • A digital single produced and distributed by Light Records
  • Personal coaching session with a renowned Light Records artist
  • National recognition on GMC TV
  • And more!
One lucky voter will receive a trip to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Power Weekend in New York.

“I am honored to be involved with the Most Powerful Voices gospel singing competition, because it shines a light on stroke. This is very important to me because my father had a stroke in 2005 due to smoking, diabetes and an unhealthy lifestyle. His stroke left him debilitated, robbing him of his ability to talk and walk. The very next year, my grandmother suffered from stroke and I’m sad to say that she is no longer with us.  My father and grandmother’s strokes have devastated my family,” said Michelle Williams.

“I want people to know that stroke can happen to anyone, at any time. My father was only in his 50s when he suffered from stroke. It is largely preventable. We have to take care of ourselves…the first step is knowledge,” she said.

Most Powerful Voices is an initiative of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Power To End Stroke cause campaign. Through Power To End Stroke, the Association reaches African Americans with stroke messages because of their disproportionate stroke risks compared to other ethnic groups.

“Stroke is a serious issue in the African-American community,” said Dr. Rani Whitfield, a family practitioner in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and American Stroke Association spokesperson.  “It is a leading cause of severe, long-term disability and death for all Americans, and African Americans are at increased risk due to higher prevalence of risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes and previous heart attack and/or stroke.  More than 100,000 African Americans will suffer a new or reoccurring stroke this year. That’s why it’s an important requirement of this competition to register people to receive stroke information.  We need to reach as many people as possible to help them to reduce their risk and to know what to do in a stroke emergency to help improve stroke outcomes.”

Power To End Stroke is nationally sponsored by the Bristol-Myers Squibb/Sanofi Pharmaceuticals Partnership. For more information and to register for the contest, visit power.watchgmctv.com.
