BUFFALO, NY, Dec. 13, 2010 /Path MEGAzine Press Release/ — “Standing Firm,” a new Christian film from Praise Pictures is picking up speed since its August DVD release. Despite its “Flywheel” sized budget (like Sherwood Pictures first release) and a marketing campaign that utilizes social-media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube almost exclusively, the film has been making a difference in the most remarkable ways.
“Standing Firm” centers around a recently widowed father named David, who after losing his wife seeks out the answer to one of life’s most confusing and primal questions about suffering, “Why?” The issue of death and suffering has resonated with viewers of the film, who in these hard times are looking for answers to their most painful problems.
The film received a wealth of support from the American Family Association with President, Tim Wildmon saying the film was “Dramatic and gripping, a dynamite tool to share the gospel!” An interview with first-time Writer/Director Kyle Prohaska was also featured in the August issue of the AFA Journal, creating further buzz along with various American Family Radio interviews.
Already the film has amassed a fan base of 60,000+ on Facebook, increasing by the thousands every week with great testimonies pouring in from around the US. Praises of the films message have also arrived from countries like The Netherlands, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and many more with no sign of slowing down.
“In a world of economic downturn, a collapsing housing market, growing levels of unemployment, worldwide upheaval and turmoil shown regularly on CNN and various other atrocities, it’s easy to be questioning the way of things,” says Kyle Prohaska. “The doctrine of God’s Sovereignty has been absolutely destroyed by the church, especially when it comes to the realities of life. The last thing this world needs is another self-help book or government program to ease the pains of life. What the world needs is Christ, because only He will bring the kind of peace and comfort in suffering that I think we’re all searching for, and that is what we’re aiming to present in this film. Praise Pictures has made Church Screening Kits available to churches for a low price on their website which allows them to screen the film for an entire year an unlimited number of times, even allowing them to charge for it if they wish to use it as a fundraising tool or recoup their cost. “If we don’t support the films that are out there, how can we expect to see more?” says Kyle. “We give money to all sorts of things every year, most of them insignificant and for a quick thrill of self-satisfaction. Hopefully churches will see the benefit.”
Kyle, 22, is due to be married early next year and runs Praise Pictures from a small office in his apartment alone, and planning to bring in his future wife to help. “I don’t ever plan on lightening the load or slowing down. I’ll continue to make phone calls to any radio station I can, email any website possible, and do whatever else is necessary to bring this DVD to others. It’s God’s movie, I’m just the messenger. My prayer by God’s Grace is that this Christmas and in the coming year of 2011, more and more Christians will find this little movie from Western New York, and take advantage of it by sharing it with their loved ones.
