This is the first year for the awards which was presented at the annual I Hear Music Conference by founders Bobby & Tracey Artis.
“Praise & Worship…Unleashed!” the first solo project offering by Ms. Stokes which was released as an Independent effort on her own label nationally (1 Voice Music) in January 2009 and has garnered high praise from radio and industry professionals alike; with a dynamic selection of songs of which she penned about half of the CD’s 15 tracks. “Friday evening’s awards was nothing less than MIRACULOUS and AWESOME for me! I’ve never experienced the presence of God on my life in that manner before…I was totally taken off guard by this honor. It’s all very overwhelming to take in. However, just to be recognized and appreciated for what I do for the Father, BY the Father is actually why I continue in the Call that is on my life. Just knowing that He’s pleased with my work is reward enough…honestly.” says Doris.
Doris (WEARING PURPLE) and the CD project “Praise & Worship Unleashed” were nominated and WON in the following categories:
*Song of the Year (Calypso Praise STRIKE!) which features Elder Carnell Murrell *Female Artist of the Year *Praise & Worship CD of the Year (Praise & Worship Unleashed!) *Vocal CD of the Year (Praise & Worship Unleashed!) *Producer of the Year (which she shares with Minister Keith Leak)AND *Artist of the Year
Doris not only served as one of the songwriters on her Freshman solo project, but also held Producer & Executive Producer responsibilities along with her Husband & Manager, 30 year plus music industry veteran, Bruce Knight. “Doris’ hands were in every area of the planning process of this project as she’s a PRO and a stickler for being presented with excellence….especially if her name is going to be on it!”…says Bruce Knight. The CD was produced by herself and long-time friend, Minister Keith Leak, who is also a native Daytonian now residing in the St. Louis, MO area. “Keith is blessed in the art and ministry of music production and worship…what a gift he carries. I was so glad we were finally able to find an avenue that we could work together on in our adulthood. I love him and his wife Keeley very much and am glad to call them “friends” says Doris.
So after this, what’s in store for Psalmist Doris Stokes? “Whatever He wants will be fine with me…I’m learning to not box God in nor to try and pre-supposed what He will do because He will continue to FLOOR YOU every time…LOL!”

OK say what you want about daytime talk show host Wendy Williams, but she is about to be internationally known. With Oprah leaving daytime and Tyra Banks gone. Does Wendy Williams have what it takes to be the biggest name in daytime television?
BET has acquired the rights to air Wendy Williams’ hit talk show, ‘The Wendy Williams Show,’ on its international networks in the United Kingdom, Africa, and the Middle East. This July, the second season of the show will air in 54 countries.Barbara Zaneri, BET Networks’ executive vice president of program strategy, scheduling and acquisitions, said that the New York Times best-selling author has had good numbers for the basic cable network in the year that the network has been broadcasting her New York-based show.
“Wendy has been an important element in the network’s success this year, and we are thrilled to have her talk show back for a second season,” said Zaneri.
“We also believe Wendy’s universal appeal will translate to all corners of the world, making her a key player for BET’s international networks as well.”
The network’s Senior Vice President of BET International Michael D. Armstrong added, “Wendy has the uncanny ability to make both her guests and viewers feel like they’ve known her all their lives. In a classic Wendyism, BET International’s viewers will soon make Wendy a ‘friend in their head.'”
‘The Wendy Williams Show’ has also been renewed on stations covering more than 80 percent of the United States, including 20 of the top 20 and 39 of the top 40 markets. The talk show launched in national syndication on July 13, 2009, after a successful six-week preview in the summer of 2008. Soon thereafter, the New Jersey native quit her other day gig, being New York’s top daytime radio jock, to focus full time on ‘The Wendy Williams Show.’
I love Jada, but I don’t know if I by this one. So you Bare it all in ESSENCE Magazine in order to teach your daughter about positive body image? I could see if you were over-weight or plus-sized. But with your perfectly petite golden-toned skin, I’m just not buying this as a good way to empower black women. You may even make more women insecure by looking at you. Jada explains,
“When I walked out there and disrobed, I felt like a queen. I felt like the world was mine. Like there was this power just emanating from my person. Like there was nothing I couldn’t do.” -Jada Pinkett Smith
Multi-talented actress and superstar mom Jada Pinkett Smith bares it all for the July cover of ESSENCE magazine, and makes a bold statement to empower Black women and girls. Jada shares the motivation behind her shoot, and explains why she approached ESSENCE with the idea.
The article reveals that posing nude was not about Hollywood vanity, but about the desire to teach her young daughter about positive body image. By celebrating our bodies and our skin tone, Jada preaches the power of femininity and the freedom of self-acceptance.
The July issue of ESSENCE magazine hits newsstands on June 11.

June 2, 2010 (Indianapolis, IN) – Earlier this year, radio host Cory “Coco Brother” asked listeners, “Are you willing to take a Stand?” and it appears that the nation responded with a resounding yes. Just over a week since its release, Condrey’s album, Coco Brother Live Presents Stand 2010, debuted at #3* on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums Charts. Not only that but according to Billboard Magazine, the CD earned the Hot Shot Debut distinction, which is awarded to albums with the top sales during its first week.
Featuring the songs and inspirational moments from some of today’s top gospel artists such as BeBe Winans, Israel Houghton, James Fortune & Fiya, Joann Rosario Condrey, and Tye Tribbett, Stand 2010 is Condrey’s debut into the ‘record-making’ business. As host of the nationally syndicated Coco Brother Live Show and The Spirit as well as BET’s Lift Every Voice, he has helped many artists ‘break’ new music but this project is the first time that he has been on the other end of a new release.
According to Condrey, Coco Brother Live Presents Stand 2010 is more than just a regular CD. For some time now, he has been at the helm of the Stand campaign, which encourages believers to go out and tell the unsaved about Jesus Christ. This CD represents one of the many outreach methods designed to promote the campaign including fan-created videos on YouTube and nationwide events called ‘Jesus Rallies’.
Condrey plans to keep this momentum going strong and is finalizing upcoming tour dates which will be announced soon.

About The Stand Campaign
The Stand Campaign is an evangelistic ministry founded by Cory & Joann Condrey in 2007. The purpose of Stand is to encourage the Body of Christ to become aggressive evangelists in their communities. Headquartered in Atlanta, GA, Stand also forms partnerships with community organizations and churches that enable believers to help their communities through charitable outreach efforts. Just recently, Stand joined forces with Hosea Feed the Hungry to collect nearly 3000 blankets for Atlanta’s homeless. The Stand Campaign does not represent a specific church or ministry. It represents the whole body of Christ. For more information about the Stand Campaign visit: www.thestandcampaign.com
The second CD from multiple Stellar Award winner DeWayne Woods will be released June 22, 2010 on Quiet Water Entertainment/Verity Gospel Music Group. The CD can be pre-ordered now at Amazon.com. Offering a mixture of comforting ballads, funky up-tempo tunes, and lively praise and worship songs, MY LIFE’S LYRIC is an eclectic and brilliant follow-up to Wood’s award-winning debut CD. It is also, according to Woods, a more mature and sophisticated album.
“I’ve grown a lot since I recorded my last CD, and the songs on this project reflect that,” says Woods. “MY LIFE’S LYRIC is an album full of testimonies of everything that I’ve been through. Jeremiah 29:11 is my favorite scripture, and that powerful word is the foundation for this project.”
Each track on MY LIFE’S LYRIC not only represents a different experience and a different aspect of Woods’ life, but most of all, each song expresses another trait of God’s awesome character. With producers including P.J. Morton, Aaron Lindsey, and Daniel Weatherspoon, MY LIFE’S LYRIC includes the debut single “Living on the Top,” a remake of the song made famous by Douglas Miller in 1992. “Living on the Top” is currently available for purchase at iTunes, Amazonmp3.com and walmart.com. A second single, “I Won’t Be Afraid,” will be serviced to radio soon.
“I was drawn to ‘Living on the Top’ because it speaks to what is being taught, even now, in churches about understanding our place in God and our positioning in the Kingdom,” says Woods. “‘I Won’t Be Afraid’ shows us the dynamics between fear and faith. We know the scripture that talks about faith being the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen; but fear is the substance of things that we do not hope for, and the evidence of things that we do see,” shares Woods. “If we understand that and know that God has taken care of everything that concerns us, we should know that we have nothing to fear.”
“We put together a phenomenal group of producers who were able to take DeWayne to another level musically,” says Donald Lawrence, Woods’ mentor and president of Quiet Water Entertainment. “MY LIFE’S LYRIC is an amazing album that showcases DeWayne’s powerful vocals and his connection with God, and it is also an album that explores DeWayne’s wide range as a modern gospel artist.”
MY LIFE’S LYRIC is a skillfully crafted expression from the heart of one of gospel music’s brightest stars. With a new project and more inspiration to share, DeWayne Woods is prepared to captivate the gospel music industry once again. MY LIFE’S LYRIC effortlessly picks up where Introducing DeWayne Woods & When Singers Meet left off.
