The Enemy Between My Legs Review

Reviewed By: Kris Patrick of Path MEGAzine

The Enemy Between My Legs is a testimony of an author who was sexually abused growing up as a child.  The pages that follow the attention grabbing cover are as bold as its catchy title.  Author Stephanie L. Jones puts it out there.  She shares testimonies of how she was left to fend for herself in a household that was oblivious to what was going on.  Jones illustrates
what the lasting effects of sexual child abuse are.  How it shapes the thought process of victims even into adolescence.  After reading this book,
I was amazed at how easy predators get to their victims.  Often times by their own family.

Stephanie L. Jones spends the first half of the book telling her interesting, but yet painful story.  The other half of the book educates us on the mindset, and manipulative strategies of unlikely candidates who commit this kind of abuse.  She also demonstrates to her readers how innocent ‘situations’, can be the loss of innocence period.  Jones’ book is gutsy and preventive, urging readers to read, “Before you let your child
“spend the night” anywhere else.” – – Or “Before you say my husband will never touch my child.”

Written with biblical solutions, I highly recommend this book to your library.  Not only for those who are victims of child abuse, but for those hoping to prevent or learn the patterns of it.

The Slaugther of the Kings Review

Reviewed By: Kris Patrick of Path MEGAzine

How does one recognize the Enemy?  His tactics.  His methods.  How do we
distinguish between whether we’re our own worst enemy, or it’s satan
executing a plan of destruction in our life?  When everything seems to be
going wrong we wonder why.  Why, when I go to church?  When I follow God’s
word.  In contrary, when everything’s great we’re in Gods’ will.  Right?
Well these are just some of the questions I’m able to answer by reading Apostle
Anya Hall’s remarkable book ‘The Slaughter of the Kings’.

Apostle Hall shows in her book identifiable and fundamental tactics the
enemy uses to manipulate the minds and actions of God’s people.  Hall takes
us to Genesis, the beginning and root of Satin’s tactics carried out by 4
Demon Kings.  Hall writes that, “Whatever is King in your life is supported
by a foundation of power.”  As Christians are foundations and principles
should be holy and derive from God’s word.  Hall reminds us that, “If the
dominant king is wicked and demonic in nature the foundation of power is
Satanic.”  The Bible sheds light on this.  “For we wrestle not against flesh
and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of
the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” –
(Ephesians 6:12)

Each King outlined had principles and religious rituals, which gave them
control over their people.  The 4 King confederacy led by Chedorlaomer King
of Elam, used this control to conquer virtually every King of this time.
This 12-year reign of evil formed the basis, in which Apostle Anya Hall is
able to minister her powerful message.

Apostle Anya Hall’s ‘The Slaughter of the Kings’ is a historical and
theological journey that will empower you to fight the enemy with a new
since of urgency.  I see now how things I felt were a “part of life,” might
not be a part of Gods’ plan for my life.  Every habit that someone else can
handle, might give the enemy a base of power in mine.  I encourage all
Christians regardless of title or knowledge to pick this book up, and see if
you’re ready to Slaughter the Kings!

The Water Bottle

My first thought was to ignore him and leave because children always seem to forgive and forget these types of things fairly quickly. His protests intensified to screams, however, until I finally relented and gave him back the water bottle. I made sure he could see my disappointment. I thought it important to make him aware that it is no small thing to promise something and not deliver. I thought he should feel the consequences of offering something (although he never offered) and then stingily insisting that it be given back. I never said a word, but once he felt my disappointment (kids can be uncanny about these things) he tried to give the bottle back. I wouldn’t take it. I wanted him to learn that choices have consequences and that ‘do-overs’ in life are not promised. My wife even piled on and told Joshua that if he is not willing to share his things then other people will not be willing to share with him. The realization of what that meant: not getting some of Dad’s potato chips, not sipping some of Mom’s soda, not playing with his friend Malik’s video game riled him up even more. He tearfully pleaded, ‘Please take it back daddy! You can have the water! Please take it back!’ I said no and walked out the door. I was satisfied that he would remember this lesson, besides this had already taken more time than I had to give.

I was halfway to the church when I got a call on my cell phone. It rings with a custom recording of my son’s voice saying ‘Hello…I love you papa.’ I couldn’t hear it over the gospel music playing in my car; I just felt it vibrating on my hip. I answered to my wife calling to say that Joshua was very distraught about not giving me the water bottle. He was crying in the background and I heard the desperation in his voice. I asked my wife to put him on the phone and instead of waiting to be prompted to say something on the phone, like he normally does, he instantly blurted out, ‘I’m sorry’. I immediately told him that everything was okay; that it was no big deal. He said ‘Okay’ in a way that made me feel like he was burying his head deep into my chest like he used to when he was content to let me hold him for long stretches of time. I was grateful for the opportunity to give him grace. I pray that the next time I will give it to him sooner.

SECOND GOSPEL RELEASE FOR COKO

Coko, the former lead singer of the platinum recording trio Sisters With Voices (SWV) is set to release her second gospel CD entitled, ‘The Winner in Me’ on Light Records.

Her signature powerhouse vocals are unmistakable. And the first release called 'Wait On God' is a classic gospel tune brimming with emotion and inspiration.

Coko, whose real name is Cheryl Gamble, began her recording career as a choir member in Hezekiah Walker’s Love Fellowship Tabernacle Choir. In 1990 Coko formed the group Female Edition and later renamed it SWV. After their breakup some eight years later, Coko released one solo R&B album then signed onto a gospel label and married music producer Mike "Big Mike" Clemmons who is the father of her second son, Jalen.

Coko's full gospel solo debut, Grateful, was released in 2006 and debuted at #5 on Billboard's Top Independent albums chart. So her upcoming CD has great expectations.

Kelly Price, who also established a following in the R&B genre before crossing over to gospel, is a guest artist on Coko’s CD. Other guest artists include Canton Jones, Israel Haughton and Lady (Cyde) Tibba (Gamble) who is Coko’s mother. The CD will be available in mid July.
