Fred Hammond’s New Group ‘United Tenors’ Suffer Major Setback, as Brian Courtney Wilson’s Label Says No

Fred Hammond’s orchestrated new group the ‘United Tenors’ suffered a major set-back in production this week.

PATH previously announced earlier this month that a super-group was being formed uniting Fred Hammond, Dave Hollister, Brian Courtney Wilson, and Eric Roberson.  Recording on the new album is going forward, but without Brian Courtney Wilson.

Wison’s label Music World Gospel has put a halt to plans that would have added a unique dynamic to Gospel music.

It is unknown why the label has denied Brian the ability to record the project scheduled for release sometime in March of 2013.

Fred Hammond announces the news via his Social Cam, with a devastated Dave Hollister visibly hurt by the recent turn of events.

In the earlier announcement this month we knew that details of the collaboration still had to be worked out with their respected labels, but that hadn’t stopped the four of them from rapidly recording tracks.

Brian Courtney Wilson spoke with PATH publisher Kris Patrick first about the news, from the studio and home of Fred Hammond as they listened to the first mixes of the album.

“I am extremely grateful to be working with Fred Hammond and the team he has conceived.  We are all excited to be working together and even more excited for you to hear what we think will be an important contribution to Kingdom music.”  Brian goes on to say “That God will be pleased.”

The news leaves the United Tenors with 3 in the group now, and Fred Hammond made it clear that they’re moving forward with recording.  They hope to wrap up production on the album by Christmas.

Currently, Dave Hollister is Pastoring at Word Assembly Family of Churches in California.  Brian Courtney Wilson is coming off his sophomore album, and Eric Roberson hopes to broaden his fan-base by joining the group.

Brian Courtney Wilson continues to feel the squeeze of diminished radio play on FM stations due to the on-going dispute between his label owner Matthew Knowles, and Radio One founder Cathy Hughes.

Lets pray that Brian’s ministry will go forth, and reach the multitudes.
