The Queen of Gospel Albertina Walker died on Friday, October 8, 2010 from complications from emphysema at RML Specialty Hospital in Chicago. Albertina Walker was known as the Queen of Gospel because of her influence and stellar accomplishments within Gospel music. She studied under Thomas Dorsey, was encouraged by Mahalia Jackson and was the founder of the legendary Caravans.

Albertina recorded over 60 CD’s, earned five gold records, received 10 Grammy nominations and won a Grammy in 1995.
