Black Pearl Enterprises is pleased to announce that Psalmist Doris Stokes, was nominated for the 2010 I Hear Music Gospel “People’s Choice Awards” in SIX (6) Categories and WON IN ALL SIX NOMINATING CATEGORIES on this past Friday night’s awards ceremony (May 28th) at the Aronoff Theater in Downtown Cincinnati, Ohio! This is the first year for the awards which was presented at the annual I Hear Music Conference by founders Bobby & Tracey Artis.
“Praise & Worship…Unleashed!” the first solo project offering by Ms. Stokes which was released as an Independent effort on her own label nationally (1 Voice Music) in January 2009 and has garnered high praise from radio and industry professionals alike; with a dynamic selection of songs of which she penned about half of the CD’s 15 tracks. “Friday evening’s awards was nothing less than MIRACULOUS and AWESOME for me! I’ve never experienced the presence of God on my life in that manner before…I was totally taken off guard by this honor. It’s all very overwhelming to take in. However, just to be recognized and appreciated for what I do for the Father, BY the Father is actually why I continue in the Call that is on my life. Just knowing that He’s pleased with my work is reward enough…honestly.” says Doris.
Doris (WEARING PURPLE) and the CD project “Praise & Worship Unleashed” were nominated and WON in the following categories:
*Song of the Year (Calypso Praise STRIKE!) which features Elder Carnell Murrell
*Female Artist of the Year
*Praise & Worship CD of the Year (Praise & Worship Unleashed!)
*Vocal CD of the Year (Praise & Worship Unleashed!)
*Producer of the Year (which she shares with Minister Keith Leak)AND *Artist of the Year
Doris not only served as one of the songwriters on her Freshman solo project, but also held Producer & Executive Producer responsibilities along with her Husband & Manager, 30 year plus music industry veteran, Bruce Knight. “Doris’ hands were in every area of the planning process of this project as she’s a PRO and a stickler for being presented with excellence….especially if her name is going to be on it!”…says Bruce Knight. The CD was produced by herself and long-time friend, Minister Keith Leak, who is also a native Daytonian now residing in the St. Louis, MO area. “Keith is blessed in the art and ministry of music production and worship…what a gift he carries. I was so glad we were finally able to find an avenue that we could work together on in our adulthood. I love him and his wife Keeley very much and am glad to call them “friends” says Doris.
So after this, what’s in store for Psalmist Doris Stokes? “Whatever He wants will be fine with me…I’m learning to not box God in nor to try and pre-supposed what He will do because He will continue to FLOOR YOU every time…LOL!”
