Whitney Houston Remembered at the Grammy’s as Christian Leaders Express their Feelings

The world lost another iconic figure last week.  Whitney Houston, the woman with the angelic voice died at 48 years old.

Sunday churches across the country recognized the legendary singer who’s musical roots were formed by singing in the Church choir.  A member of Houston’s entourage found the singer in the bath tub unresponsive on Saturday.

The autopsy of Whitney Houston is complete PATH learned, but the results will be deferred pending a toxicology report.

According to our sources, a cause of death cannot be determined until the toxicology results are in, which typically takes 4-6 weeks.  Security holds on autopsy results can be held pending police investigation.

Speculation is that Whitney Houston could have taken a fatal combination of Xanax pills and alcohol that could have fatally sedated her while taking a bath.  It’s possible the singer could have passed that way or she may have drowned in the bath tub.

The Grammy’s payed tribute to Whitney Houston by having Jennifer Hudson sing Houston’s song “I Will Always Love You.”  The tribute was emotional as Hudson nailed the performance.

The late singer presented Hudson with her first Grammy in 2008, and Hudson admitted that meeting Houston, who she has said inspired her career,“almost overshadowed getting the Grammy.”

At a pre-Grammy event, Hudson said Houston’s tune “I Will Always Love You” inspired her, adding that she would “create duets with her because I wanted to sing with Whitney Houston.” Hudson was reportedly in tears during rehearsals, but was able to make it through the performance.

It’s almost surreal that Whitney Houston has passed away at such an early age.  Bishop T.D. Jakes had this to say:

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic and untimely passing of Whitney Houston, whom we were blessed to have just completed work with on the remake of the film “Sparkle.” We ask the world to join us in lifting up Whitney’s family in prayer and ask God for their strength and comfort during this devastatingly difficult time. At the apex of her career, Whitney had no peer, with a voice that shaped a generation. She has left behind a musical and film legacy that will endure…. she will be sorely missed by us all.”

Dr. Bobby Jones says this,

I am sure that many in the gospel music industry were shocked to hear of the death of a great artist and personality, Whitney Houston. Cissy Houston, her mom, appeared on my show, Bobby Jones Gospel several times and often spoke of Whitney’s love for the show that featured Gospel Music. I personally was pleased to get a telegram from Whitney and Cissy when my Mom passed away. Her roots in gospel were strong and formidable. We offer our deepest feelings to the family and pray God’s favor on her life. She was a great friend and I loved her greatly. –Bobby Jones

The movie sparkle and all things Whitney Houston will definitely see increased interest as the world mourns the singer with a one-of-a-kind voice. Below we have posted some of Whiney Houston’s song’s. Whitney Houston, gone too soon.
