The Board of Directors of the National Association of Gospel Radio (NAGR) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Ballard as Interim President, following the recent resignation of Founder and President, Charles Edward Johnson.
This leadership transition marks a significant moment for the organization as it continues to expand its mission of supporting gospel radio professionals across the nation.
Mark Ballard, an accomplished industry executive, will bring his wealth of experience and visionary leadership to the role. He currently serves as the Managing Director of the Stellar Award-winning WNZN Power 89.1 FM, Northeast Ohio’s first and only Urban Inspiration Radio Station. Under his guidance, WNZN has become a beacon of community support, offering youth development programs, job training, and workforce development initiatives through the P.A.C.E. Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization committed to driving positive change in the community.
NAGR, known as America’s preferred trade association for gospel radio professionals, represents stations that collectively reach over a million listeners. With more than 120 stations in its network, NAGR’s influence extends across all 50 states and beyond, solidifying its role as a leader in the gospel radio industry.
Charles Edward Johnson, who founded NAGR with a vision to unify and empower gospel radio professionals, has been instrumental in the organization’s growth and success. Although he is stepping down from his presidential role, he will remain on the Board of Directors until December 31, 2024, to ensure a smooth and seamless transition.
“We are deeply grateful for Charles Johnson’s visionary leadership and the foundation he has laid for NAGR,” said the Board of Directors in a joint statement. “We are confident that Mark Ballard’s experience and dedication will propel NAGR to new heights, as we continue to preserve, protect, and advance gospel radio.”
