New Haven Records has announced the release of the much-anticipated brand new recording from the multi-award winning Chicago Mass Choir. Greater Is Coming is now available and features 11 songs, performed as only the famed choir can perform.
For nearly 4 decades the Chicago Mass Choir has delighted listeners world-wide, as God continues to use their collective gifts and talents for His glory. Over the past 35 years they have received dozens of honors and accolades, including 5 Stellar Award nominations, 2 Grammy nominations, and a Dove Award nomination, as well as the Stellar Award for Choir of the Year. With so many honors and awards to their credit the Chicago Mass Choir refuses to rest on past laurels, but continues to seek God’s direction and anointing, willingly accepting invitations to share the message of the Gospel in song.
Under the direction of Dr. Feranda Williamson, who became President and CEO in 1994, the Chicago Mass Choir has completed 17 tours internationally throughout Switzerland, Greece, Italy, Croatia and Spain. The Choir is no stranger to national television and has been featured on the Stellar Awards and BET’s Bobby Jones Gospel, just to name a few.
With 17 recordings under their belts, Greater Is Coming marks the 18th full-length recording for the Windy City’s renown musical entourage. The debut single, an up-tempo, hand-clapping feel good tune titled He’s A Wonder is currently climbing the airplay charts and is in heavy rotation on Sirius XM’s Kirk Franklin Channel. “No doubt, this song is soon to become a Gospel classic. The response has been amazing,” states New Haven Records President, Ken Harding. “We are so excited to be able to personally witness the impact this incredible song is making, and we know even greater things are to come as additional songs are released from this incredible recording.”
Dr. Williamson and the entire Chicago Mass Choir team are thrilled that God is using this new music to touch so many lives. “To God be the glory! I am so thankful to God that we are able to release an album that truly is a testimony of God being a miracle worker,” Dr. Williamson shares.
“Greater Is Coming is a confirmation that no matter what the situation or challenges of life–our God has shown us that He is our provider! This project was produced during the coronavirus season and during a time when people were afraid to gather in large groups. We were able to record and this was the first concert after being on a hiatus due to COVID restrictions. Without a doubt, we can testify that GREATER IS COMING!!!”
The release date of Greater Is Coming coincides with the kick-off of African American Music Appreciation Month, which is throughout the month of June. “New Haven Records is delighted to be able to release this new product at the start of African American Music Appreciation Month,” Harding states. “Under the leadership of Dr. Feranda Williamson and producers Percy Gray and Jeral Gray, Chicago Mass Choir has delivered another stellar recording and video. We are so excited to witness the impact this ministry and music will have on hearts around the world.”
The impact of their music is literally worldwide, as they have achieved over 88 million views on YouTube/VEVO, including over 23 million views of the hit song God Is My Everything. The video He’s A Wonder, the first release from Greater Is Coming made its debut in March and has already enjoyed over 100,000 views. The second video single, Keep On Praying is set to release this week, with the remaining 9 songs scheduled to be released every 2 weeks consecutively.
God has taken the dreams of founder James Chambers, combined with the consistent leadership and vision of Dr. Feranda Williamson, and provided musical worship to literally millions of individuals. God continues to use the gifts and talents of these individuals, as well as each member of Chicago Mass Choir to inspire, delight and bring glory to His name.
