Tina Campbell joins the “Tam Fam” for a special interview and performance of “Pray For Me,” lifted from her forthcoming album, Testify.
Tina Campbell, renowned as one half of the Grammy Award-winning Gospel duo Mary Mary, sat down with Emmy Award-winning journalist Tamron Hall to offer exclusive glimpses into her upcoming solo album.
At 50, Tina made a big announcement on the Tamron Hall Show: her upcoming album, “Testify,” will hit shelves this September. The audience was treated to a live performance of her latest single, “Pray for Me,” which left them mesmerized.
During her chat with Tamron, Tina, a devoted wife of 24 years and a proud mother and grandmother, delved into the inspirations behind her new music. She openly shared her family dynamics, experiences with rejection, and the profound importance of sharing one’s journey.
Tamron, aged 53, praised Tina for her rare transparency regarding marital struggles and personal hardships. In response, Tina reflected, “I don’t advocate this for everyone. Some are just called to share their lives openly, and I realize I’m a wounded healer.”
The public eye scrutinized Tina’s marriage to percussionist Teddy Campbell after reports of his infidelity emerged in EBONY magazine back in June 2013. The disclosure shook the faith-based community. Despite their highly publicized struggles, Tina and Teddy’s relationship endured, thanks to their commitment to fasting, prayer, counseling, scriptural study, and renewed intimacy.
Tina finds solace in her authenticity despite enduring pain and humiliation. “As a public figure, I know I’m open to public opinion. They can uplift you or tear you down,” she acknowledged. “But I don’t let it define me or break me.”
