John P. Kee Writes Song “Let Me Breathe” in Memory of George Floyd

John P. Kee Writes Song “Let Me Breathe” in Memory of George Floyd
America hasn’t experienced racial tensions this high since Trayvon Martin was killed in 2012. Little has changed since then as America grows tired of the disproportionate amounts of lethal force being used on black suspects.  As riots in Minnesota continue to escalate and social media continues to be set ablaze, legendary Gospel singer John P. Kee has a simple message to underscore the killing of George Floyd. “Let Me Breath.”

The beautiful ballad written a mere 24 hours after Floyd was killed showcases the talent and compassion that has made Pastor Kee a legend in the hearts of the Christian faithful.

Listen to the song below:

LYRICS:

“LET ME BREATHE” I offer this to the Floyd family and my sons…

I am a man I have a heart
Yet there is so much inside of me that I must impart
There is someone(s) that loves me dear
I can’t imagine life without them being near
So you can’t take my life in your hands
Treat me as though I’m not a common man
You may never ever show respect to me
But there is one thing I’m owed respectfully
Just let me breathe Let me breathe
That’s a God given right given to me
Just let me breathe Let me breathe
My life matters to family friends and me
I don’t admit I walk in fear
Never knowing when my end is drawing near
I tell my seed they must comply
But it seems that that’s a game called do and die
So you can’t take my life in your hands
And treat me as though I’m not a common man
You may never ever show respect to me
But there is one thing I’m owed respectfully
Just let me breathe Let me breathe
That’s a God given right given to me
So if I die at the hands of one carelessly
My life mattered to family friends and me…
