We now know what caused the death of late Mega-church Pastor Zachery Tims. Tims’ mother Madeline Tims, fought for years to have Zachery Tims’ cause of death hidden from the public.
After winning a temporary appeal to delay the release Judge Cynthia S. Kern ruled in 2012 that there were no laws strictly prohibiting the medical examiner’s office from publicly disclosing Tims’ cause of death, as it does with other high-profile cases.
After all appeals were exhausted today Julie Bolcer, director of public affairs for the NYC Office of Chief Medical Examiner, told Charisma News the cause of death is “acute intoxication by the combined effects of cocaine and heroin” and “the manner of death is an accident.”
Tims, 42, was found dead on the floor of a room in New York City’s W Hotel in Times Square on Aug. 12, 2011.
Police ruled out foul play, but reports said he had a plastic bag filled with white powder in his pocket. By Tims’ own testimony, he was instantly delivered from drug addiction when he was saved. But after divorcing his estranged wife Riva Tims, the Pastor was said to be going through a dark period of time which could be the culprit for his relapse.
Tims was senior pastor of the New Destiny Christian Center in Apopka, Fla. He started the 7,000-member church with Riva Tims in 1996. Paula White is now senior pastor of the church he led for 15 years.
