While many of his peers shy away from the title Christian Comedian, veteran comedian and writer Akintunde, has always embraced the title and has consistently seen his annual comedy tour grow.
But this year’s tour exceeded all expectations consistently packing churches and venues on both ticketed and non-ticketed Out-Reach dates.
Says Akintunde, “We kept pushing date by date and it kind of snuck up on us”. This year’s ROC tour saw a substantial spike in both Church booked tour dates, as well as, Promoter booked tour dates.
The 2014-14 tour officially ended it’s season on May 16th in Columbia Maryland at The Jim Rouse Theater. The event was promoted by Zion Christian Church and was a huge success. Says event planner Deborah Stallings, “Akintunde was absolutely hilarious. The event was a hit and a blessing, and everyone wants to do it again”.
Akintunde has scores of national television appearances as credits (BET, TBS, TBN, Word Net). Most recently, Bounce TV’s Off The Chain and TBN’s Praise The Lord . Akintunde is a sought after screen and television writer with over 325 original television episodes as credits – including stints as monologue/joke writer for It’s Showtime at the Apollo, The Stellar Awards, NAACP Image Awards, The BET Awards and The Monique Show.
