Church Miraculously Unscathed as Tornado Strikes During Service All 100 Survive

A pastor in Pennsylvania is attributing divine protection to the survival of all 100 attendees after a tornado struck their church during a service, causing damage to the roof and steeple.

Members of Crossroads Ministries in Finleyville, Pa., were worshiping on Saturday night shortly after 6 p.m. local time when a tornado swept through the town, striking their building. The pastor’s wife, Rhonda Barner, was singing on stage at the time. In the online broadcast of the service, the camera can be seen shaking before the stream abruptly cuts off.

“I saw the lights flickering and then they went out,” she told WPXI-11 News. “I thought I heard windows starting to shatter, and then it sounded like a train coming through as more windows broke.”

Attendee Linda Desing described the situation as terrifying.

“We were singing a hymn when the lights started flickering,” Desing told KDKA. “Suddenly, one of the windows blew out and everyone ducked for cover. I never want to go through that again; I’ve imagined what it might be like to be in a tornado, but I never want to experience it.”

The tornado tore the roof off the office building and threw it into the nearby woods. It also tossed the steeple onto cars. Pastor Ken Barner said God protected everyone. About 100 members and attendees were inside, including babies there for a scheduled dedication.

“We witnessed a complete miracle. The hand of God almighty was upon us,” Barner said during his Sunday sermon the next morning.

A few people sustained cuts and bruises, but no one was killed or hospitalized, he added.
