Christian singer Mandisa was found dead in her home on Thursday, April 18. She was 47. The cause of death is unknown at this time. Mandisa’s representatives released the following message confirming reports.
“We can confirm that yesterday Mandisa was found in her home deceased. At this time we do not know the cause of death or any further details. We ask for your prayers for her family and close knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time.” Mandisa was a voice of encouragement and truth to people facing life’s challenges all around the world. She wrote this song for a dear friend who had passed in 2017.
Her own words (song lyrics) say it best… “I’m already home, You’ve got to lay it down ’cause Jesus holds me now, —And I am not alone.”

She first gained recognition as a contestant on the fifth season of American Idol in 2006, where her performances captivated audiences and earned her praise from judges. After that, Mandisa released several successful albums, including “True Beauty,” “What If We Were Real,” “Overcomer,” and “Out of the Dark.” Her music has topped Christian music charts with hits like “Overcomer,” “Stronger,” “Good Morning,” and “Bleed the Same.” Mandisa’s contributions to the industry have been recognized with multiple Grammy nominations and Dove Awards, including a Grammy win for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for “Overcomer” in 2014.
