Christian singer Mandisa was found dead in her home on Thursday, April 18. She was 47. The cause of death is unknown at this time. Mandisa’s representatives released the following message confirming reports.
“The singer was relatively young” says Path MEGAzine publisher Kris Patrick. “I grew up listening to Gospel music, and when I first started listening to Christian Contemporary music, it was because of Mandisa. She had a way of attracting listeners from many different genres of Christian music. Her impact on Christian music and the Kingdom of God will be missed.”
Mandisa was a highly acclaimed contemporary Christian music artist known for her powerful voice and impactful lyrics. She first gained recognition as a contestant on the fifth season of American Idol in 2006, where her performances captivated audiences and earned her praise from judges. After that, Mandisa released several successful albums, including “True Beauty,” “What If We Were Real,” “Overcomer,” and “Out of the Dark.” Her music has topped Christian music charts with hits like “Overcomer,” “Stronger,” “Good Morning,” and “Bleed the Same.” Mandisa’s contributions to the industry have been recognized with multiple Grammy nominations and Dove Awards, including a Grammy win for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for “Overcomer” in 2014.
