The second leg of the 2013 Rebirth of Comedy Tour kicked off on November 7, 2013 in Fort Lauderdale Florida at Redeeming Word Christian Center. Since then, the nations leading Urban-Faith comedy tour has steadily gained momentum as each week hundreds and thousands show up at each stop.
DC’s Reid Temple Restoration Church currently holds the attendance record with over 1,000 seats sold. Houston Mega-Church Word of Restoration Christian Fellowship was forced to add more seats. Not even this past weekend’s bad weather (snow and icy rain) could stop what Co-Creator and Headliner, Akintunde calls “A movement”. Fridays stop at Boston’s Eagle Heights Church and Saturdays stop at Raleigh’s The Dream Center (presented by J-Plus Entertainment) had impressive turnouts by anyone’s standards in spite of weather challenges. Even more impressive are the exit reviews as tour attendee’s consistently give the tour rave reviews via video testimonies, social media, and word of mouth.
Says Akintunde, “Only God can get the credit for what has been happening on the road these past few weeks”.
The second leg also featured appearances by comedian’s Corie Johnson, Cletus Kassidy and Johnathan “All Ready” Walker. Akintunde promises some special guest appearances in 2014. The tour will continue thru March in support of the retail release of Akintunde’s latest DVD, The Whole Truth (Tuesday-February 18th) via indie labels Arrow-Global Entertainment, No Joke Entertainment, and distributor, Entertainment-One. The hour-long film has been picked up by cable network, BET.
