Tyler Perry Cancels Madea Gets a Job Tour – Says He’s Tired of Bootleggers

Tyler Perry recently announce on his personal website that he’s not doing the Madea Gets a Job Tour after all.  This was supposed to be viewers last chance to see the iconic character Madea LIVE.

Tickets have already been selling out at venues across the country, but Perry says the prices that are being charged are double and in some cases triple the suggested prices he set.

Perry says he’s also fed up with people pretending to be him online, and then ripping fans off for big money.

Read Tyler Perry’s letter to fans below:

Unfortunately, due to circumstances that I can’t control, we’ve had to cancel this leg of the Madea Gets A Job tour.

Here’s why. I set a ticket price for the show starting at $25. The reason I set the price so low is so that everyone could get a chance to come out and see the show. I know how tight things are right now. I GET IT! I do not tour to make a living, I tour because I love staying connected to all of you. I love seeing your faces, hearing you laugh and seeing you enjoy yourselves. It gives me great joy. Even though it’s a lot of work, I really don’t mind doing it. Because of that, what I do is make sure that the promoter sets a reasonable ticket price and the prices are $25, $45 and $65. Even though I set these prices so that they are affordable, fees are added that are out of my control and the price of the tickets can almost double. Add to that, when you go online looking for tickets, IN LOTS OF CASES, you are being led to a bootlegger and you don’t even know it. There are a lot of ticket bootleggers and scalpers that buy lots of shows and sell them to the public for double, sometimes triple the price. I’ve been dealing with this for years but now with the internet I’ve never seen it this bad.

Also, there are some horrible people who are pretending to be me or representing me on Facebook and charging people money to do a meet and greet on the tour. They are telling people that they are me or working for me and charging them $150 for a meet and greet after the play. DON’T FALL FOR THIS!! That’s not me.

This is so frustrating! Why are people so evil? Why can’t people just get legitimate jobs and stop trying to do the wrong thing all the time? If they put the same amount of energy into doing the right thing as they do in doing the wrong thing they could make it. It’s so sad.

To all of you who have bought tickets and made plans to be there I am so sorry. I really am but my hands are tied.

This was the last live Madea tour and I’m super sorry that you won’t get to see it live. All refunds should be given back to you. -Tyler Perry

Trayvon Martin’s Parents Speak at T.D. Jakes’ Church The Potter’s House

The family of a Florida teen who was shot to death by a neighborhood watch volunteer found support at The Potter’s House on Sunday.

Trayvon Martin’s parents and his brother attended services at the Dallas megachurch. They came to North Texas to attend a benefit for the Justice for Trayvon Martin Foundation on Saturday night.

Bishop T.D. Jakes told them there really is no such thing as “closure,” and Trayvon’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, agreed.

“I know that this will never end for us because Trayvon is not going to come back. But what we do hope is that we can help somebody else’s family out,” she said. “And I just also want you to know that God is in control.”

Trayvon Martin was killed in February in a case that shocked the nation.

George Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder in his death. Zimmerman is currently out on bond, awaiting trial.

MALACO RECORDING ARTIST REV. BENJAMIN CONE JR. PASSES

It is with heavy hearts and treasured memories that Malaco Music Group announces the passing of beloved Minister and Gospel Recording Artist – Rev. Benjamin Cone Jr. He died peacefully at his home in Jackson, MS on Sunday, September 16, 2012 after an extended illness.

Born in Waycross, GA on September 28, 1937, Rev. Cone moved to Mississippi in 1973. As fate would have it, he would meet and develop a friendship with Frank Williams – legendary Gospel singer, songwriter, producer and Malaco Gospel Division Director. Frank would share his vision for a statewide Gospel choir and invite Rev. Cone to become one of its founding members, in 1988. He agreed to become the choir Spiritual Director with one stipulation – the choir would not just sing about the Lord, but extend an invitation of discipleship on every recording and at every the concert. Frank also agreed, and the rest is history. He faithfully served the choir for 25 years. www.mississippimass.com), www.facebook.com/tmmc1

Although he was known for his thunderous voice and the iconic sermonette “The Birds,” it was the sermonette “It was Worth It All” from their recording – Not By Might – that sums up who and what he was. This art imitating life story took place in the Mississippi Baptist Hospital Medical Center, where Rev. Cone was recovering from prostate cancer surgery. While having his vitals checked by the overnight nurse, he noticed that she seemed troubled. After talking to her for a while and gaining her confidence, he discovered that she did not have a relationship with the Lord. It was there in the hospital recovery room, that he would lead her to the Lord, and prompt him to say, “It was worth my getting prostate cancer, that the nurse might get the Lord – “It Was Worth It All.”

Rev. Cone was an artist in his own rights, having released 6 CD’s with Malaco Records. His uniqueness was to simply translate God’s Good News into a thunder-voiced language that impacted the hearts and minds of those blessed to hear him. www.malaco.com

According to Malaco’s President – Tommy Couch Jr. – “He was a deeply religious man who always found God’s blessings in every situation. Upon hearing of the tornado destroying Malaco, Rev. Cone commented, “No one was hurt and you had good insurance….the Lord wanted Malaco to have a new building.” Rev. Cone was present to bless the new offices at Malaco before re-opening. He told us, “Every disappointment is an appointment with the Lord.” We will truly miss Rev. Cone and his wisdom and love for our Lord.”

He leaves to cherish his memory a dedicated wife of 53 years – Louise Dixon Cone; five children – Marjorie Cone, Brenda Raiford, Danny James Cone, Benjamin Cone III, Audrey Cone Thompson; and one grandchild – Christian Cone.

Homegoing Service will take place on Saturday, September 22, 2012, at 11:00AM at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 5708 Old Canton Road, Jackson, MS 39211. Final arrangements have been entrusted to Lakeover Memorial Funeral Home, 1525 Beasley Road, Jackson, MS 39206, 601 362 0162. Viewing will take place on Friday, September 21, 2012, 1:00PM – 7:00PM

The Canadian Connection: Sharon Riley & Faith Chorale Making Gospel Music With INTEGRITY!

For almost two decades Sharon Riley & Faith Chorale has established itself as Canada’s premier gospel group.  The Toronto-based group made their international debut in 1998 with Life Is on EMI Gospel.  Since then, the group has traveled extensively, won two Juno Music Awards from The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, appeared in feature films, television shows and stage musicals and have released an all new independent project – INTEGRITY.

INTEGRITY is Sharon Riley & FC’s long awaited project which was recorded live at The Church On The Queensway in Toronto, Canada.  The project delivers with Riley’s powerful rich lead vocals and her choir’s vibrant choral support.  Making a guest appearance on INTEGRITY is fellow Canadian Sean Simmonds, who obtained his early start in music by singing as a member in Faith Chorale, adds his signature urban hip hop vocals on the track “I Got It”.   Music’s newest talented sensation Mali Musicalso appears on the dynamic worship track “I Shall Live” and noted vocalist Candy West contributes lead vocals on the soul fused song “The Will”.  The projects title track “Integrity” is the lead radio single that allows Riley to minister a powerful message via her commanding lead vocal over an electronic fusion of orchestration.

INTEGRITY is the group’s newest collection of testimony and encouragement expressed via genuine lyrics and anointed sound and is a representation of years of perseverance in music and in ministry.  This journey is also summed up with “The Journey Medley”, a wonderful reminiscing mix of Riley & FC’s hits.

Sharon Riley & Faith Chorale has built a name synonymous with strength.  Sharon’s own personal journey has been characterized by struggle, longevity, and untold blessings-the stuff of unshakable faith. In the aftermath of a terrible car accident in 1990, Sharon Riley was left to reevaluate her life.  “It was devastating. I woke up in the hospital, and it was a total miracle of God that I even survived,” Sharon explains.  “I was totally unable to walk. Both legs were severely damaged. I had to learn to sit up, remain sitting, stand up and eventually walk again.”  Although she was physically broken, Sharon’s spirit and her faith would not be diminished. While still recovering, she began to take part in a local gospel ensemble that is now known as Sharon Riley & Faith Chorale.

The milestone of being Canada’s first gospel group to sign an international contract is amplified by the long list of awards and achievements.  They’ve appeared in the blockbuster film The Blues Brothers 2000 and HBO’s Light to the Power of Two. Working alongside Paul Schaffer, Riley co-arranged “John The Revelator” for The Blues Brothers 2000 Soundtrack and appeared on the Grammy Award-nominated soundtrack alongside the likes of Aretha FranklinErykah BaduJames Brown andEric Clapton.  Riley & FC recently appeared in an episode of the TV series Saving Hope on NBC (and CTV in Canada).

Sharon has continued to develop and lead and diversify her Faith Chorale throughout the evolution of music and the evolution of group.  They are relentless in declaring the awesomeness of God where ever they are!  With God as its foundation and Sharon as its rock, Faith Chorale will continue to affect and change lives with through their music. The great achievements and longevity of this group has solidified itself as a unique Canadian talent, with a new perspective and vibrant music Sharon Riley & Faith Chorale’s journey is just beginning.

Michael Winans, Jr. Officially Charged with Wire Fraud – Singer on the hook for 8 Million Dollars

The news first broke in 2008 that singer Michael Winans Jr. was in deep trouble, accused of running a ponzi scheme that defrauded friends and church member out of millions.

My Fox Detroit reports that the member of the legendary Winans family is being charged by the federal government with taking more than $8 million from over a thousand victims.

Winans allegedly spoke at local churches where people were impressed to be addressed by someone in the famous Winans family.

According to broad federal sentencing guidelines Winans could be facing serious jail time or only be required to pay restitution.  The law states that a mail and wire fraud are punishable by imprisonment for not more than 20 years and a fine of not more than $250,000 (not more than $500,000 for organizations).  Conviction may also result in probation, a term of supervised release, a special assessment, a restitution order, and/or a forfeiture order.

“When you think of the Winans, you think of prominent people,” one woman told My Fox Detroit.

Michael Winans, hooked people by promoting a Saudi Arabian oil bond that was paying huge dividends.

“He did get up and speak and basically he said that the crude oil bond is real,” one man said.

But the feds say his Saudi oil bond and his investments were all fake.

Watch the video below for more details and visit My Fox Detroit for the full report.
