Christian rapper Lecrae stopped by BET‘s flagship show 106 & Park to talk about the current state of hip-hop and artists bringing religious elements into album art.
Interviewed by host and fellow rapper Bow Wow, Lecrae had no shame in mentioning the name ‘Jesus’ and expressing his faith. Towards the end of the interview the youthful crowd started chanting 116; A number popularized by a collaborative artist project that brought several top Gospel rappers together last year.
The chanting proved that the audience knew Lecrae’s music far beyond the 106 & Park performance. It also proved that the youth do respond positively to music of substance.
It’s good to see Lecrae having an impact on our youth, while breaking down barriers that’s held back mainstream Christian rap artists.
