The Rebirth Of Comedy Tour featuring Akintunde (BET, TBN, TBS, The Word Network) kicked off Saturday night in Greensboro NC with big laughs and a big turn out. Host ministry Evangel Word Fellowship Church Of God In Christ (Pastor Otis Lockett, Jr.) welcomed the national comedy tour currently in it’s 4th straight year.
The Greensboro date featured Akintunde joined by Corie Johnson (Co-host of The Akintunde Radio Show), with Tim Shrop and MC, John Allen. The 1500 seat sanctuary was nearly filled, and attendants gave the tour rave reviews at exit polling and social media. The next stop is Friday April 19th in Sumter SC before continuing on to Marrietta GA, Savannah GA, Nashville TN, Grand Rapids MI, Cleveland OH and more.
The full tour schedule will include 20 plus dates celebrating 20 years in comedy. Says Akintunde,
“Now more than ever, people are recognizing the true healing power of laughter”.
Evangel Word Fellowship as the host, ministry was a very deliberate choice, as the church is recovering from the lost of it’s Pastor and founder, Bishop Otis Lockett, Sr (whom past in November 2012).
Church member and comedian Tim Shrop worked directly with No Joke Entertainment and church leadership for months to bring the ROC Tour to Greensboro and bring some much needed laughter. By all accounts, the event proved successful on all levels.
