It is often difficult to describe a rare talent such as Kathy Taylor. If you said first-class vocalist, talented worship leader, record-label owner and philanthropist you would be right–but the sum is greater than its parts. So; all of Kathy Taylor has showed up for the debut release from her label – Katco Music Group, titled“Kathy Taylor Presents
…Spirit of A Grateful People – Windsor Village Church Family Worship & Arts Ministry.” “This record was born out of a desire to tell God… We are grateful,” Taylor shares, “with all the natural disasters and tragedies…we remain grateful to Him.” It is appropriate that the first single off the album is “Give Him Praise”, a hand-raising, head-bopping, rousing command to praise. “This is a family album,” Taylor shares, “there is music for every generation from the grandmother to the grandbaby.” “Give Him Praise” starts the family praise party with depth and perfection. The single, as perfect singles often do has hit the Billboard top 20 chart for gospel. “This journey, though just beginning is already amazing,” Taylor shares, “people are joining us in Giving Him Praise.”
When it comes assisting others with “Giving Him Praise,” Kathy Taylor is no newbie. In fact, she is far from it. For the past 25 years, Kathy has served God, while serving His people as the Minister of Music at the Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. It is through her calling as Minister of Music, that Kathy has honed her God-given ability to hear God; to move according to HIs leading, and to usher others into His glorious presence. Kathy possesses an unusual knack for causing the listener to hunger and thirst for more of God’s presence. Such talents have taken her far beyond the walls of Windsor Village United Methodist Church. Through her gift of song, Kathy Taylor has been positioned by God to stand before heads of state such as former President Bill Clinton and Queen Elizabeth.
Though Kathy has seen some lofty places, her spirit remains quite grounded. The “Kathy Taylor Presents…Spirit of A Grateful People – Windsor Village Church Family Worship & Arts Ministry” recording was a church-family affair. “The album was a homegrown project,” Taylor shares, “most of the songs were written by members of Windsor Village United Methodist Church Mass Choir.” Despite using talent from within her church family, the project still had its challenges; not with the people – but with the pressures of planning and executing the launch of both a record label (of her own) and a new CD project. “We started recording during a hard time,” Taylor says, “it was easy to look around at what was going wrong, but we knew God was doing everything right and we remained grateful.”
Taylor’s heart of gratitude is a characteristic that adds a notable richness to her gift. There is no pretense with Kathy, only a heart to serve and glorify God. Such a heart to serve, lead Taylor to start Katco Arts – a revolutionary outreach program geared to help youth discover their purpose. Over 2500 youth have benefited from the program.
