Newly signed Tyscot Recording Artist, Marica Chisolm, was crowned the grand prize winner of the 2013 JoyFest-Kings Dominion Talent Competition and will give the opening performance at Joyfest on Sat. July 20th at Kings Dominion Amusement Park in Richmond, VA.
She will share the stage with Stellar Award winner, Isaac Carree, and Grammy Award winners Kirk Franklin and Lecrae. After two (2) rounds of highly aggressive voting by the general public and a panel of Gospel Music industry professionals, Chisolm earned this coveted opportunity.
Included with the chance to open for Joyfest, Marica Chisolm will sing tunes from her debut Contemporary Praise & Worship CD, “Simply Worship” (due for national release Fall 2013). The project was recorded live in Atlanta, GA, and is a collection of 11 songs filled with powerful adoration and reverence to God. “Simply Worship” was produced by Trent Phillips (Donnie McClurkin, Bishop Paul S. Morton, Jonathan Nelson) and includes the soon-to-be serviced lead radio single, ‘Used’ (written by Motown Gospel Recording Artist, Tasha Cobbs).
In addition to Joyfest, Marica will be on the road this summer as a featured Worship Leader during the 20th Annual Full Gospel Fellowship Conference, V.I.P. Conference (hosted by Pastor John P. Kee), and her “Simply Worship” Workshop Tour (selected markets/dates TBA).
An Atlanta, GA native and current resident, Marica Chisolm is a fresh face on the Contemporary Praise & Worship scene and is looking forward to a long-term, sustaining career as a national recording artist and licensed minister. Her singing gift made room for Marica being a background vocalist for some of the industry’s leaders: VaShawn Mitchell, Juanita Bynum, and JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise. In addition to being a wife and mother to three (3) beautiful children, Marica currently serves as Praise & Worship Leader at Gathering of Champions International Cathedral in Marietta, GA, under the leadership of Bishop Brian Keith Hodges.
