My Block Inc./eOne Music has announced this week’s release of “HELP,” the eagerly awaited solo debut from contemporary gospel icon Erica Campbell. The album – which includes the GRAMMY® Award-nominated single, “A Little More Jesus” – arrives in stores and at all digital retailers today, Tuesday, March 25th.
“HELP” is already a phenomenon, standing tall at #1 on the iTunes Store’s “Top Christian & Gospel Albums” chart while also coming in among the top 5 on the overall sales ranking. The album is highlighted by the new hit single, “Help (Feat. Lecrae),” which is currently #7 and climbing at Gospel radio outlets nationwide, in addition to ascending the top 20 at Urban AC. The striking “Help” companion video – directed by famed filmmaker Bille Woodruff (Toni Braxton, Mary J. Blige, Dru Hill) – is streaming now below.
As if that weren’t enough, Campbell is set to celebrate “HELP” with a pair of very special live concert performances, slated for April 2nd at Washington DC’s Howard Theater and April 3rd at New York City’s B.B. King Blues Club & Grill. Furthermore, this summer will see Campbell headlining McDonald’s 2014 Inspiration Celebration® Gospel Tour, with guests Anthony Brown & group therAPy and comedian Jonathan Slocumb – full details, including tour dates and ticket information, will be announced soon.
Campbell is of course known around the world as one half of the legendary sibling gospel duo, Mary Mary, whose hit WE tv reality series recently had its third season premiere to blockbuster ratings. Beginning with 2000’s groundbreaking single, “Shackles (Praise You),” Mary Mary have redefined contemporary gospel, infusing it with modern energy, innovative production, and vibrant performance. The winners of four GRAMMY® Awards and countless other honors – including multiple Dove Awards, NAACP Image Awards, BET Awards, Stellar Awards, American Music Awards, ASCAP Awards, and ASCAP’s prestigious ASCAP Golden Note Award honoring composers, songwriters, and artists who have achieved extraordinary career milestones – Mary Mary remain driven by the simple goal that defined their mission from the beginning, to connect with people, offering them hope and inspiration through the universal power of song.
Described by Campbell as “Motown meets gospel meets rock ‘n’ roll,” “HELP” reveals an array of fresh creative colors, performed with all the passion and artistry that has marked her work from the very start. Produced by Campbell’s husband and longtime studio collaborator, nine-time GRAMMY® Award-winning producer, songwriter Warryn Campbell, the album is both inspiring and exciting, with Campbell’s instantly recognizable voice now front and center, revealing powerful and personal perspectives to her always immensely moving music.
“I’m so excited about this music,” Campbell says, “just being me and sharing my heart with the world. I want people to know there is help and there is hope!”
A special 2-disc CD/DVD edition of “HELP” will be available only at Walmart. The limited edition package features a number of extras, including the “Help” companion video and an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at WE tv’s smash Mary Mary.
Campbell – both solo and with sister Tina Campbell as Mary Mary – has been all over the mainstream media in recent weeks, including appearances on NBC’s TODAY, BET’s 106 & Park, UP tv’s 2014 Stellar Awards, TV One’s News One with Roland Martin, Hallmark Channel USA’s Home & Family, and such nationally syndicated favorites as Bethenny and The Wendy Williams Show. She has also been featured in a range of national outlets, with top-selling cover appearances on Jet, Hope For Women, Root Magazine, and other publications.
