Death of 17 Year Old Jordan Davis Inspires Inspirational Artist T’Juan’s “Think About It” Campaign

Death of 17 Year Old Jordan Davis Inspires Inspirational Artist T’Juan’s “Think About It” CampaignHow do you express your heart and thoughts, when the world may be saying something different? Well, No Compromise Records artist, T’Juan, has been faced with this question on several occasions, but no matter the challenge, he has chosen to stay true to what he believes and is called to.

This year T’Juan launched the “Think About It” campaign and the educational platform, Project 16, to help promote peace in light of gun violence in communities across the country. T’Juan is very passionate about promoting forward thinking and has been heavily involved in the recent Jordan Davis gun violence case.

Jordan Davis was a 17 year old of Jacksonville, FL. who was tragically killed due to gun violence outside a gas station for playing his music too loud.

The “Think About It” campaign and Project 16, were inspired by 16 issues that T’Juan faced and conquered as a young man. The same issues that most youth deal with on a daily basis, such as peer pressure, low self-esteem, sex and drugs. The issue T’Juan is focused on now is Gun Violence. Years ago, T’Juan wrote a song entitled Gun Charge. In the wake of the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman and Marissa Alexander stories, T’Juan is more determined to send home the message of education, before death or incarceration.

He states, “People, both young and old, have got to ‘think about it’ before they pull out that pistol.”

The aim is to get people to think about their actions and how they will affect various important areas in life: a high school graduation, football games or scholarship, the prom, or even seeing your daughter get married.

As a community activist, T’Juan was recently compelled to share the song, “Gun Charge” during the Jordan Davis Rally in hopes of encouraging the family and community.

The Jordan Davis case has pushed T’Juan further with the mission to send home the message of education, before death or incarceration.

He states, “The constitution allows us to bear arms but people, both young and old, have got to ‘think about it’ before they pull out that pistol.”

Several community leaders from the Jacksonville, FL area have committed to supporting the “Think About It” campaign including, Prosecutor Angela Corey, Sheriff John Rutherford, Jacksonville School Board and Clear Channel Media.

If you support this movement, or would like to be a sponsor, text “ThinkAboutIt” to 99000. “If our movement will cause people to think about it, and we saves lives, than we have made a difference.”
